Ayar Labs helps companies keep up with skyrocketing volumes of data by offering a breakthrough hardware that brings the super-high bandwidths and low energy use of fiber optics inside computers. We are on a mission to get optics inside all electronics, replacing electricity with light, and bringing breakthrough improvements in performance and energy efficiency to computing. We are commercializing a breakthrough technology from MIT, UC Berkeley, and CU Boulder in which we have figured out how to get silicon chips, such as processors, memory, and ASICs, to communicate with light instead of electricity using established CMOS fabrication processes with no process changes. This alternative to copper interconnects brings unprecedented bandwidth and energy efficiency to computing.

Firefly’s vision is to extend humanity’s reach into the universe by assembling a team of like-minded individuals to build the next generation of spacecraft. Firefly is first and foremost a business - our spacecraft are designed to satisfy a market need & provide a high return to shareholders. The strongest current need is for a dedicated small satellite launcher in the half-metric-ton payload class. Firefly is focused on developing & deploying this launcher, to provide low-cost, high-performance space launch capability. In the under-served small sat market, secondary-payload launches are often the only option. Our first product, Firefly Alpha will change this. Capable of lifting 400kg to a 400km equatorial orbit, Alpha is designed for mass production & to fly 50x a year. The technologies employed in our state-of-the-art rockets provide a clear pathway for future incremental improvements in capability. Later vehicles will have reusable elements and employ air-breathing propulsion.
