For the past 150 years, pathologists have been inspecting tissue visually under a light microscope to diagnose and grade cancer. This process is subjective--for many cancers, pathologists only agree with each other about 50% of the time. Over the past three years, hospitals have begun replacing microscopes with to digital, image based workflows. We tap into that digital data, and use computers to automate and quantify modern pathology workflows.
