About Velocity
Velocity is building a modern marketplace focused on making shopping more accessible through Zero-Cost EMI financing, bringing trusted brands and products across categories onto a single shopping experience.
As we scale the Velocity Marketplace, we are looking for a Shopify Associate who can own the day-to-day operational management of our Shopify storefront and ensure that products, collections, pricing, inventory and merchandising are accurate, up to date and customer-ready.
Role Overview
You will be responsible for managing and maintaining the Velocity Marketplace on Shopify, working closely with the catalog, brand, supply, marketing and operations teams.
The role involves a mix of product listing, catalog management, store merchandising, inventory updates, quality checks and Shopify administration.
Shopify's product administration supports product titles, descriptions, images, variants, tags, metafields, collections, pricing and inventory, making these core areas of the role.
Key Responsibilities
- Product & Catalog Management Create and publish new product listings on Shopify. Upload and maintain: Product titles Descriptions Images/videos Product specifications SKU and barcode information Pricing/MRP Product variants Product categories Tags and attributes Shipping information Ensure product information received from brands/suppliers is complete, accurate and standardized. Update existing product information whenever brands share changes. Identify and resolve missing, incorrect or duplicate product data. Maintain catalog hygiene across a growing SKU base. Shopify specifically supports both manual product creation and bulk CSV-based product imports, which can be useful as Velocity's catalog scales.
- Shopify Store Management Manage products, collections and categories through the Shopify Admin. Create and update collections based on category, brand, campaign and merchandising requirements. Manage product visibility and publishing status. Maintain navigation, menus and basic storefront content. Coordinate with the team on homepage/product merchandising updates. Ensure newly onboarded brands and products are correctly reflected on the storefront.
- Inventory & Pricing Operations Update inventory levels and product availability. Coordinate with suppliers/brand teams for inventory updates. Update selling prices, MRP and promotional pricing as required. Check products for incorrect pricing or out-of-stock status. Maintain accuracy between supplier data, internal catalog data and Shopify. Shopify provides dedicated permissions for product editing, pricing and inventory management, reflecting these as distinct operational functions within store administration.
- Store Merchandising Create and maintain collections such as: New Arrivals Best Sellers Electronics Luggage Wellness Featured Brands Offers & Deals Help merchandise products on the homepage and category pages. Ensure the right products are surfaced during campaigns and launches. Coordinate with marketing teams for campaign/product updates.
- Product Quality Checks Before products go live, verify: Correct product title Correct brand Correct images Correct price/MRP Correct SKU Correct variants Correct specifications Correct inventory Correct category/collection Correct product description Correct shipping/return information The goal is to ensure zero avoidable catalog errors before a customer sees the product.
- Brand & Supplier Coordination Work with brand/supplier teams to collect missing product information. Follow up for product images, specifications, pricing and inventory. Maintain structured product-data sheets for new brands. Coordinate with the Catalog Ops/Supply team during brand onboarding. Ensure products are launched within agreed timelines.
- Reporting & Admin Maintain daily/weekly catalog trackers. Track: Products received Products uploaded Products pending Products rejected Missing information Out-of-stock products Pricing issues Maintain operational documentation and SOPs. Support bulk catalog updates through Excel/CSV. Identify repetitive tasks that can be automated. Shopify also supports bulk editing and catalog tools for managing large numbers of products, making spreadsheet/data-management skills useful for this role.
Requirements
Must Have
1–3 years of experience in Shopify / e-commerce operations / catalog operations / marketplace operations.
Hands-on experience with Shopify Admin.
Good understanding of product listing and catalog management.
Strong Excel/Google Sheets skills.
Good attention to detail.
Comfortable working with large amounts of product data.
Ability to coordinate with brands, suppliers and internal teams.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Good to Have
Experience managing a Shopify-based marketplace/store.
Experience with bulk product uploads/CSV imports.
Understanding of product variants, collections, tags and metafields.
Experience with e-commerce marketplaces such as Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra, etc.
Basic understanding of SEO-friendly product titles/descriptions.
Experience with inventory and pricing management.
Familiarity with Shopify apps and integrations.
Exposure to automation tools such as Shopify Flow.
