About the job
Proposal Writer Intern
Department: Strategic Growth & Business Development
Location: (Hybrid/Remote)
Duration: 10-12 Weeks (Summer), Academic Semester, or Part-Time
Pay Rate: Competitive Hourly + Performance Milestone Bonus
About the Role
In tech consulting, winning a new engagement often depends on who writes the proposal first. As a Proposal Writer Intern, you are the architect of our narrative in the sales room.
You will be responsible for crafting compelling, accurate, and compliant responses to RFPs (Request for Proposals) and Request for Information (RFIs). You act as the bridge between complex technical capabilities and business value. A strong proposal wins a contract; your words directly impact revenue targets. This is a high-stakes, high-learning environment where attention to detail matters more than anything else.
Key Responsibilities
RFP Response Management: Lead the drafting of executive summaries, project scopes, and technical approaches in response to client RFPs.
Solution Narrative: Collaborate with Pre-Sales Architects to translate technical solutions into business outcomes (e.g., "How our AI reduces fraud costs").
Compliance Checks: Review all proposal submissions for NDA compliance, confidentiality standards, and adherence to strict formatting guidelines.
Competitive Analysis: Research competitors’ pricing models and solution claims to ensure our proposals highlight superior value propositions.
Collaboration Support: Work within shared document systems (e.g., SharePoint, Dealroom) to manage versions, track changes, and coordinate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).
Budget Estimation Support: Assist in estimating effort hours and resources required for proposed solutions to ensure pricing is realistic.
Quality Assurance: Perform final proofreading of bids to eliminate typos that could undermine professionalism before submission.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in English, Business Administration, Computer Science, or Technical Communication.
Writing Excellence: Must possess impeccable grammar and sentence structure. Ability to write clearly for both C-Suite executives and technical stakeholders.
Technical Fluency: While you don't need to code, you must understand the basics of our solutions (Cloud, Data, Security) so you aren't describing features that don't exist or sound implausible.
Attention to Detail: Ability to proofread for inconsistencies in tone, formatting, and compliance without being "picky" but rather "precise."
Deadline Resilience: Comfortable working on tight turnaround times (e.g., "Draft this 50-page proposal section by tomorrow morning").
Preferred Skills
Microsoft Office Suite: Advanced proficiency in Word (Track Changes, Comments, Master Documents) is highly preferred.
Collaboration Tools: Experience with SharePoint, Google Drive, or Salesforce (Service Cloud/CRM).
Research Skills: Ability to quickly synthesize large amounts of technical documentation into readable text.
Presentation Design: Familiarity with PowerPoint to create slide decks that support the written proposal.
Why Join Our Proposal Team?
Deal Impact: See your writing directly influence the revenue forecast and win/loss analysis for the firm.
Technical Exposure: Get a deep dive into our technology stack without needing to be an engineer—you just need to understand it well enough to sell it.
Career Pathway: Excellent conversion path into full-time roles as Business Development Manager, Pre-Sales Consultant, or Solution Architect.
Mentorship: Weekly 1-on-1 coaching from Senior Pre-Sales Directors on how to structure winning arguments and handle client objections.
The Consulting Mindset
Accuracy is Everything: If you write a technical solution in the proposal, it must be delivered exactly as described. No exaggeration.
Confidentiality: You will sign strict NDAs. This role handles sensitive client data and proprietary pricing models.
Speed with Quality: We value fast turnaround without sacrificing quality or accuracy.
How to Apply
Please submit your resume and two writing samples. Writing samples should include a formal report, essay, or technical document that demonstrates your ability to write clearly under structure.
ZLG is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to diversity in tech consulting.
