What We’re Looking For

We’re searching for an optimistic and skilled Senior Backend Engineer to join our expanding product team. This role offers a unique chance to significantly impact the development of our backend infrastructure in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. You’ll work closely with frontend and backend teams to create and maintain scalable microservices as we grow our client base.

We prioritize in-office work for fostering collaboration, with most of our team in our Vauxhall office 3-4 days a week. We're flexible when it matters, but this role is primarily on-site and not suitable for someone seeking a fully remote position.

Core Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the product team to understand requirements and create effective technical solutions.

• Develop and maintain high-performance, scalable microservices that handle large datasets.

• Write and manage scripts to streamline internal business processes.

• Conduct code reviews to ensure high-quality standards.

• Introduce new tools and technologies to enhance development processes.

Tech Stack You’ll Be Working With

• Languages & Frameworks: Python, FastAPI, SQL (Postgres, ClickHouse), Dagster

• Infrastructure: Docker, Kubernetes

• Note: Although this is our current stack, we’re always open to exploring new technologies that improve our workflows.

What You’ll Bring to Autone

Must-Haves:

• 5-8 years of experience as a backend engineer, ideally with some of that experience in a startup/scaleup

• Strong expertise in Python and SQL (Postgres).

• Proven experience building scalable, efficient microservices.

• Comfort working with large data loads and optimizing data pipelines.

• Prior experience collaborating with cross-functional teams in a dynamic setting.

• Enthusiasm for in-office collaboration and team-oriented work.

• Knowledge of the retail industry (bonus).

Compensation

£90k - £110k + equity, depending on experience.

Interview Process

Stage 1: Take-Home Test (approx. 2 hours)

Demonstrate your technical skills with a relevant real-world scenario.

Stage 2: Technical Interview (1.5 hours)

Collaborate with our team to review your take-home test and discuss solutions.

Stage 3: Leadership Interview (1 hour)

Meet with our VP of Engineering and Co-Founder to discuss Autone’s vision and your role within it.
