OVERVIEW:

Winrock is seeking a GESI Specialist to contribute to a dynamic team in implementing an anticipated five-year, $10-25M USAID-funded project in India to improve health of coastal and marine ecosystems and the wellbeing of communities that depend on them.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The GESI Lead is responsible for ensuring overall programmatic and institutional GESI integration. T CARE. 2023. Farmer field and business school toolkit. Atlanta.
The position is contingent upon receipt of donor funding.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead the design and implementation of a GESI analysis at startup and use the findings to inform the design of the project’s Gender and Inclusive Development Strategy.
- Lead ongoing monitoring of the project’s GID strategy.
- Provide technical leadership to consistently integrate GESI into project interventions, tools, and communication materials.
- Work closely with the MEL team to integrate GESI into the project MEL plan and framework, including systematic disaggregation of data by sex, age, and other context-relevant social identities.
- Facilitate ongoing learning around GESI (i.e., setting a learning agenda and creating opportunities for regular community consultations and qualitative data collection from project participants).
- Strengthen the GESI capacity of project staff and partners via regular workshops and refreshers.
- Facilitate annual GESI Pause & Reflect sessions for project staff and partners.
- Review all project reports, assessments, tools, and communication materials to ensure GESI is meaningfully considered.
- Regularly inform project action planning and MEL activities to ensure GESI remains a key consideration.
- Lead the design and implementation of a GESI assessment at project closeout.
QUALIFICATIONS AND BACKGROUND:
- Education:
- Academic degree in international development/affairs, gender and development, social science, or a related field evaluation.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience:
- Experience providing GESI technical guidance for international development projects, preferably in India.
- Strong demonstrated technical expertise in GESI and/or women and youth empowerment.
- Demonstrated understanding and experience applying intersectional and inclusive development approaches; expertise in disability inclusion and positive youth development a plus.
- Expert GESI analysis skills and qualitative and/or quantitative assessment and evaluation skills, including sample design, mixed method designs, instrument development, and data analysis.
- Experience designing and facilitating in-person and virtual GESI trainings/workshops.
- Demonstrated experience with reflective practice methodology.
- Experience in senior-level management positions for donor-funded development projects.
- Strong understanding of issues faced by socially marginalized populations in India specifically related to environmental conservation.
- Experience working with USAID-funded projects is an advantage.
- Skills/Knowledge:
- Understanding of ‘Do No Harm’ principles and ability to translate these principles programmatically.
- Strong work planning, organization, and strategic thinking skills.
- Ability to deal sensitively in multicultural environments and build effective working relations with colleagues and partners.
- Ability to mentor colleagues in writing and communicating around GESI issues.
- Cultural awareness and knowledge of the India context.
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
