JOB PURPOSE:
As the Managing Directors for India, you will play a pivotal role in driving strategic and operational success in India. You will oversee domestic activities for dmg events’ flagship event in India, India Energy Week, reporting to the Vice President, India Energy Week. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Along with the relevant internal stakeholders, you will have responsibility for the overall P&L of the business in India • Achievement of revenue and profit targets.
- Management of the local team and office in Delhi, as well as remote working teams in India, complimenting existing reporting lines. • Ensuring effective working practices and ensuring the teams maintain standards of excellence in delivering their jobs.
- Recruitment of top talent to the business, ensuring dmg events extends its reputation of attracting top talent enabling market leading output. • Recruitment and retainment of leading talent in India
- Leveraging key domestic stakeholders • Regular engagement with key domestic stakeholders, cultivating strong relationships and ensuring their support is effective for the business.
- Provide local market knowledge, through experience, relationships and learning, to ensure that international management are able to collectively make informed decisions. • Ensuring key local trends and requirements are communicated effectively to management to support business decision making.
- Responsibility for attaining required approvals and permissions. • Ensuing required approvals and permissions are in place to effectively run the business and events and India.
- Key account management across a core number of high revenue accounts across both the exhibitor and sponsor base. • Grow spend and engagement for key players in the domestic market and ensure effective execution to deliver high levels customer satisfaction.
- Government liaison and support • Identify and engage key government departments, building strong relationships and ensuring support for events.
- Identify and validate new Business Development opportunities for revenue and profit growth in India. • Produce compelling business plans for new opportunities, including securing support of key public and private stakeholders.
- Work closely with finance teams to ensure appropriate local market conditions are adhered to, manage debt collection and ensure positive cash flow. • Regular liaison with finance teams and management to ensure effective financial management of the India business
- Work with relevant teams to ensure robust procurement practises are in place. • Direct involvement in negotiations and appointments of key suppliers, driving value for the business.
JOB CONTEXT:
The successful candidate will be expected to drive growth in India, managing existing and developing new events locally. Candidate will be commercially driven and have experience managing cross functional teams covering sales, marketing, operations and conference production.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:
Minimum Qualifications and Knowledge:
Degree educated with a proven track record in a senior management role across B2B events is essential
Demonstrate strong management skills across key accounts and stakeholder engagement.
Track record of leading a business and delivering growth in India.
Sector and industry knowledge would be an advantage but is not essential.
Minimum Experience:
10+ years’ experience within B2B events
5+ years’ experience of managing and leading a business
