About the job
Intro
InsurX’s mission is to transform the $300bn complex commercial insurance industry. InsurX is a two-sided marketplace for corporate and specialty insurance. Our platform helps brokers and underwriters trade insurance faster, better, and cheaper by algorithmically matching insurer appetites to broker risks. We launched at the start of 2023 with three insurers and two brokers in our first vertical, a space known as ‘Contingency’ - essentially, our platform algorithmically sources insurance for the world’s biggest events and artists, and we’re only just getting started.
What we’re doing isn’t a new concept, it’s just new to insurance. It's what Airbnb and Skyscanner did for travel. Or what electronic trading exchanges did for the capital markets in the ‘90s. We’re looking for growth-hungry people who think like owners to come in and grow with us.
Headlines
InsurX is on its own in this space. We’re the first, and we want to be the best. We are on a steep growth trajectory and will soon be branching out into new classes of business.
We’re going to make a success of this by building a different type of insurance company: one that combines insurance expertise with outside talent.
We’re an ambitious and tight-knit group that loves to be challenged. We want to work with people who are intellectually curious, who love to be challenged and who take the initiative to make things better.
The role
You’ll be working directly with the founding team of a high-growth start-up, so you’ll be exposed to everything InsurX does, and have a direct impact on our success.
You will:
- Manage the inflow of submissions into InsurX, overseeing the underwriting inbox, ensuring prompt and accurate handling of incoming requests, and delegating submissions within the team.
- Develop effective personal relationships with individuals and broker teams across the market, acting as the ultimate point of contact for broker enquiries.
- Collaborate closely with the Operations team, providing guidance, support, and training to enhance operational efficiency and quality.
- Understand and communicate algorithmic rules both internally to the team and externally to our brokers.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of underwriting processes and systems, to ensure compliance, with best practices, and identification of ways to improve our business.
- Work with InsurX’s Data and Commercial teams to understand the wider business requirements of your team.
You
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage large volumes of incoming communications with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively work with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Proven ability to establish and nurture broker relationships.
- Comfortable with fast-changing priorities, able to work under pressure, and capable of leading a team.
- Solid understanding of underwriting processes, systems, and familiarity with industry regulations and compliance requirements.
- Previous experience in underwriting operations or a similar administrative role within the insurance industry.
These aren’t strict requirements, but we think a good candidate for this role probably fits most of the above. Ultimately, we want someone bright and hard-working, excited about turbocharging their career and changing an industry. If this sounds like you then we'd love to hear from you.
