About the job

Company: Medavida
Location: Remote
Employment Type: Independent Contractor
Schedule: Flexible, with regular availability during Eastern Time business hours

About Medavida

Medavida is building the payments-enabled operating system for modern cash-pay healthcare. Our platform connects credential verification, patient care, prescriptions, payments, suppliers, communication, and practice growth within one unified ecosystem.

We are developing connected experiences for healthcare practices, patients, pharmacies, suppliers, partners, and internal operations teams. We are looking for a highly capable Product Designer who can transform complex healthcare and payment workflows into intuitive, polished, and scalable digital experiences.

The Role

The Product Designer will lead UX and UI design across Medavida’s web-based platform and supporting digital products. This role requires someone who can think strategically about the complete user journey while also producing detailed, development-ready interfaces.

You will work closely with company leadership, product management, and engineering to define workflows, improve usability, create prototypes, and maintain a consistent design system across the Medavida ecosystem.

This is a hands-on role for a designer who is comfortable working in a fast-moving startup environment, making informed decisions with incomplete information, and taking features from early concepts through final developer handoff.

Responsibilities

  • Design intuitive user experiences for Medavida’s practice, patient, pharmacy, supplier, partner, and internal operations portals
  • Translate product requirements, business objectives, and user needs into clear workflows and interface designs
  • Create user flows, journey maps, information architecture, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs
  • Develop responsive designs for desktop, tablet, and mobile experiences
  • Design complex healthcare and payment workflows, including onboarding, credential verification, prescribing, checkout, subscriptions, billing, refunds, reporting, inventory, order management, and settlement
  • Simplify technical and operational processes without removing important functionality
  • Build and maintain Medavida’s design system, including components, patterns, typography, colors, spacing, icons, and interaction standards
  • Ensure consistency across products, user types, and platform modules
  • Create clickable prototypes for product testing, stakeholder reviews, partner demonstrations, and investor presentations
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to define requirements and resolve workflow gaps
  • Prepare detailed design specifications, component states, annotations, and assets for developer handoff
  • Review implemented features and provide design quality assurance before release
  • Identify usability issues and recommend improvements based on user feedback, product data, and business priorities
  • Help establish scalable UX and product-design processes as the company grows
  • Maintain organized Figma files, libraries, prototypes, and design documentation

Key Product Areas

The designer may contribute to experiences across:

  • Healthcare practice management
  • Patient onboarding and patient portals
  • Provider credential verification
  • Payment processing and checkout
  • Recurring billing and subscription management
  • Prescriptions and pharmacy order management
  • Nutraceutical and supplier ordering
  • Inventory and fulfillment
  • Risk, underwriting, disputes, and chargebacks
  • Partner and portfolio analytics
  • Reporting and reconciliation
  • AI-assisted healthcare and administrative workflows
  • Internal operations and administrative tools

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience designing SaaS platforms, web applications, or complex digital products
  • A strong portfolio showing UX thinking, user flows, interface design, and completed product work
  • Advanced proficiency in Figma, including components, variants, auto layout, prototyping, and shared libraries
  • Strong understanding of user-centered design principles and interaction design
  • Ability to simplify complex workflows and present information clearly
  • Experience creating responsive and accessible digital experiences
  • Strong visual-design skills with careful attention to hierarchy, spacing, typography, and consistency
  • Experience working directly with product managers, developers, and business stakeholders
  • Ability to take ownership of projects and move from concept to final design with limited supervision
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organization, attention to detail, and follow-through
  • Comfortable receiving feedback and iterating quickly
  • Able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced startup environment

Preferred Experience

  • Experience designing healthcare, healthtech, fintech, payments, banking, or regulated software products
  • Experience designing multi-sided platforms with different user roles and permissions
  • Familiarity with electronic health records, patient portals, telehealth, prescribing, or pharmacy workflows
  • Experience with payment gateways, subscriptions, transaction reporting, refunds, disputes, or financial dashboards
  • Understanding of accessibility standards and inclusive design practices
  • Experience conducting user interviews, usability testing, or product discovery
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted product experiences
  • Basic understanding of front-end development constraints and component-based design
  • Experience working with early-stage or rapidly growing technology companies

What Success Looks Like

  • Complex workflows become clear, intuitive, and easy to navigate
  • Designs are complete, organized, and ready for engineering implementation
  • The Medavida platform maintains a consistent visual and interaction system
  • Product decisions reflect both user needs and business requirements
  • Developers receive clear specifications with fewer unanswered questions
  • Design reviews and revisions happen efficiently without delaying product development
  • The quality and usability of Medavida’s products improve with every release
  • Users can move smoothly between connected healthcare, payment, prescription, and supplier workflows

Contractor Expectations

This is a remote independent contractor position. The contractor will be responsible for managing their own schedule and deliverables while maintaining consistent communication and meeting agreed-upon deadlines.

Because Medavida operates primarily on Eastern Time, the contractor must be available for scheduled product meetings, design reviews, and engineering collaboration during agreed-upon Eastern Time business hours.

The contractor should be comfortable working within defined priorities, providing regular progress updates, and presenting work during product-review meetings.

To Apply

Please submit:

  • Your résumé or LinkedIn profile
  • A portfolio demonstrating relevant UX and UI work
  • Two or three examples of complex workflows or SaaS products you have designed
  • A brief description of your role and contribution to each featured project
  • Your availability and preferred weekly capacity
  • Your hourly rate or proposed monthly contract rate
  • Your location and available working hours

Medavida is an equal opportunity company. We welcome qualified contractors from diverse backgrounds who are excited to help design the future of healthcare technology.
