UI/UX Design Engineer Intern

Sponsor a Pet is a fundraising platform dedicated to providing Animal Non-Profits a platform to raise the necessary resources to save the lives of animals. Our mission is to create a loving environment for every animal and to work towards the elimination of kill shelters, animal abuse, and the destruction of their habitats.

Job Description:
We are looking for a talented UX/UI Design Engineer Intern to join our team. You will be responsible for creating an intuitive and visually appealing online experience for our users, working with components directly in code. Problems we face today involve conveying data-rich UIs with constant changes meaningfully and visibly to users, maintaining component parity at high iteration velocity, and maintaining consistent UX across complex workflows and branching user journeys in the product.

Responsibilities:

• Work closely with our founding team (specifically the CEO and Head of Engineering & Product) to implement challenging, interactive and visually appealing designs.
• Maintain and improve a design system, wireframes, storyboards, user flows, process flows, and site maps to communicate interaction and design ideas.
• Work on several client projects with varying UIs, branding and design systems - working directly with clients to bring their ideas to life.

Skills and Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:

• Proficiency in Figma for rapid prototyping.
• Proficiency in Claude Code and MCP to leverage AI in speeding up design processes.
• Knowledge of Git, React, Typescript, Storybook.
• Knowledge of design systems. You can spin up a new one in minutes and iterate on the spot.
• Up-to-date with the latest UI trends, techniques, and technologies.
• Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Bonus Qualifications:

• Experience with Adobe Photoshop
• Experience with Canva

Compensation
Compensation will be college credit and can turn into a full time position based on performance during the Internship. Our Head of Eng & Product started off as an intern too!
