About the job

About Us
We’re a fast-growing software startup serving the self-storage industry. Our AI-powered omni-channel agents (web, SMS, and voice) help operators automate sales and service, deliver 24/7 customer support, and create a smoother experience for tenants. Everything we build is centered around clarity, great design, and giving customers exactly what they need.

As we scale, we’re looking for an AI Product Engineer (Claude Code) who is excited to build new platform features using LLM-powered development workflows. This role blends product thinking, structured prompt engineering, and hands-on implementation to accelerate how we bring new capabilities to our customers.

About the Role
We’re hiring an AI Product Engineer to use Claude Code as a core part of the development workflow, helping us ship high-quality product features faster and with greater clarity. You’ll collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Design to turn specifications into production-ready systems — using LLMs not as a novelty, but as an integrated part of modern software engineering.

This role is ideal for someone who loves reasoning with models, writing precise prompts, documenting decisions, and maintaining a rigorous development process. You should have strong instincts around how to structure problems for LLMs, when to guide vs. constrain outputs, and how to ensure reproducibility, accuracy, and scale.

If you enjoy fast iteration, tight feedback loops, and building software in partnership with advanced AI systems, you’ll thrive here.

What You’ll Do

AI-Assisted Feature Development

  • Build new platform features using Claude Code as a key part of your development workflow while ensuring output is production-grade.
  • Follow and extend engineering best practices — consistent coding patterns, abstractions, tests, and clear, reviewable PRs.
  • Work within, and help evolve, our existing architectural patterns (including nodes-based design and internal technical documentation).
  • Develop prompting strategies and interaction patterns that reliably guide LLMs toward accurate, maintainable, high-quality code.
  • Use planning, structured outputs, progressive refinement, and other scalable techniques to improve model reasoning and output quality.
  • Identify, refine, and generalize effective LLM workflows into repeatable internal standards, templates, and development guidelines.
  • Review, validate, and improve model-generated code — ensuring correctness, clarity, and alignment with product requirements.

Documentation & Process Excellence

  • Maintain high-quality documentation across all development artifacts:
    • Pull requests, including context, decisions, and reasoning.
    • Linear issues, with linked PRs, clear requirements, constraints, and outcomes.
    • Plan files or structured development notes that reflect the iterative approach and decisions taken.
  • Document newly developed LLM workflows, insights, and prompt patterns so they can be used across the engineering team.
  • Help build a scalable, maintainable foundation for AI-assisted development across the organization.

Collaboration & Product Impact

  • Partner with Product to translate ideas and customer needs into structured, buildable feature specifications.
  • Collaborate with Engineering to ensure generated code integrates cleanly into the platform, follows architectural norms, and meets quality expectations.
  • Work with Design to ensure implementation aligns with user flows and product intentions.
  • Iterate quickly based on internal review, QA cycles, customer feedback, and real-world performance.

Quality, Reliability, & Iteration

  • Diagnose and correct reasoning failures or inaccuracies in LLM-generated code.
  • Build scalable approaches for improving reliability — including structured prompting, validation strategies, and reproducible workflows.
  • Contribute to the team’s overall understanding of best practices for LLM-assisted development and multi-agent system design.

What You Bring

Experience & Skills

  • 2–5+ years of experience in software engineering, AI-assisted development, or LLM-driven product development.
  • Strong familiarity with Claude, OpenAI models, Gemini, or similar LLM platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to structure prompts, define constraints, and guide models toward reliable and maintainable outputs.
  • Fluency in reviewing, refining, and improving both human-written and model-generated code.
  • Experience working with modern dev tools (PR workflows, Linear, testing frameworks, and version control).
  • Strong communication skills, especially when documenting reasoning, approaches, and edge cases.
  • A systems mindset — thinking beyond individual tasks to scalable patterns, processes, and reusable workflows.

Bonus

  • Experience working with AI copilots, AI-powered development tools, or LLM orchestration frameworks.
  • Familiarity with TypeScript, Python, or similar languages used in the platform.
  • Understanding of multi-agent systems or workflow-driven AI architectures.
  • Opinions on effective prompt design, LLM development patterns, and scaling AI-assisted engineering teams.

Why This Role Matters
This is one of the most impactful engineering roles in our company. You’ll help shape the way we build software — using LLM-powered development as a force multiplier for speed, clarity, and innovation. The features you ship will directly improve how operators manage their businesses and how tenants interact with the self-storage experience.

If you made it this far and this sounds like a great fit for you, take a look at our website and check out our mascot, Hoover the owl. What are his colors?
