About the job

Please note that this position is fully remote. That said, if you are based in Poland, Portugal, or Ukraine, you are welcome to use our local offices whenever it suits you.

About the role

PandaDoc is hiring its first Design Engineer to sit at the intersection of design and engineering in the Embedded Agreements track. You'll own the design of two strategic areas — our API and our integrations — the surfaces that connect PandaDoc to the broader ecosystem of tools our customers already work in.

The Embedded Agreements track is where PandaDoc extends beyond the product itself. Our API is where developers build on top of PandaDoc, embed document workflows into their own products, and connect to AI-native environments — including our ChatGPT app, Claude connector, and MCP (Model Context Protocol) integration. Our integrations area is where users connect PandaDoc to the tools they already use, like Salesforce and HubSpot, to automate document workflows across their stack.

And the ground is shifting. The technical barrier to working with programmatic surfaces like our API is falling fast: MCP and AI surfaces like Claude and ChatGPT are collapsing the effort it takes to connect to an API or an MCP server. That means the audience for these surfaces is no longer just developers — it's a larger and growing group whose expectations are changing as quickly as the way developers themselves now build. We're looking for someone who can partner closely with product to help define our strategy here, stay close to how the market is moving, and let that shape how we design these surfaces for an expanding audience.

Both areas are technically complex and require someone who can hold the developer experience and the end-user experience in mind at the same time. This is a role for someone who has the eye of a designer, understands and can ship code, and is genuinely excited about building for developers and an increasingly broad set of power users. You will own a strategic area end to end. We expect you to be opinionated, deeply curious about how people and tools interact, and comfortable shaping a product area with limited prior template.

What you'll do

  • Own the design of our API and integrations areas end to end — from developer-facing API surfaces and documentation experiences to the in-product flows users rely on to connect their tools;
  • Partner with product and research to shape strategy for these surfaces — staying close to how the market and the audience are shifting as the barrier to working with APIs and MCP falls, and translating that into how we design for a broader, evolving set of users;
  • Design and prototype AI-native patterns for our API — including our ChatGPT app, Claude connector, and MCP integration — surfaces where PandaDoc meets AI assistants and agentic workflows;
  • Shape how integrations feel across the product, with intent around two questions in particular: how our core CRM integrations (Salesforce, HubSpot) need to adapt for an agentic world, and how we balance the integrations we build ourselves against the connections customers orchestrate for themselves in surfaces like Claude via MCP — when each makes sense, when a hybrid is right, and how to design an experience that intentionally guides customers to the best option for them;
  • Prototype ideas in code, fast. Take a concept from Figma or an LLM conversation to a working production-grade React component in days, owning layout, interaction, accessibility, and performance;
  • Trailblaze the Design Engineer function at PandaDoc. Own work end to end, from problem framing to launch, and shape how this role operates as the first hire in it;
  • As the only Design Engineer on the Embedded Agreements team, bring your technical perspective into the design process — sharing patterns, pairing on prototypes, and helping the designers around you improve their technical skills over time;
  • Work AI-first in Cursor and Claude Code, and bring strong opinions on how to get high-quality output from these tools.

What you need

  • Strong experience across both design and front-end engineering, with a portfolio of shipped interfaces or widely-used components you can point us to;
  • Fluency in React, TypeScript, modern CSS, and comfort working close to API surfaces and developer tooling;
  • A genuine interest in developer experience — you understand what makes an API feel well-designed, not just functional — and curiosity about how that experience is broadening beyond developers as MCP and AI assistants lower the barrier to entry;
  • Active, opinionated use of Cursor and Claude Code in your daily workflow, with a clear point of view on how to get production-quality output;
  • Comfort building from zero, with the judgment to set direction when there's no template to follow, and the instinct to partner with product on where the market is heading.

Our stack

React, TypeScript, our internal AI-enabled design system, Figma, Cursor, Claude Code, Copilot. You're not expected to have shipped in all of these, but you should be excited to work close to product, AI, and real users.
