Position Overview
The Founding Exchange Officer will be responsible for managing and overseeing all aspects of 1031 exchange transactions, from initiation to completion. This role requires a deep understanding of 1031 exchange rules and processes, excellent communication skills, and the ability to handle complex client needs. You will work closely with clients, real estate professionals, and other internal teams to ensure successful and compliant exchanges.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate all phases of 1031 exchange transactions, including forward, reverse, and improvement exchanges
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing guidance on the 1031 exchange process and ensuring their needs are met
- Review and prepare exchange documents, ensuring compliance with IRS regulations and company policies
- Manage client accounts, including timelines, fund transfers, and communications with escrow agents, title companies, and attorneys
- Resolve complex issues and respond to client inquiries with expertise and a customer-centric approach
- Utilize and contribute to the development of the company's tech-enabled tools to improve transaction efficiency
- Stay up-to-date on 1031 regulations and industry trends to provide accurate advice and solutions
- Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., tech, legal, compliance) to streamline operations and enhance client experience
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience with 1031 exchanges
- Strong knowledge of IRS Section 1031 regulations, including reverse, and improvement exchanges
- Excellent client management skills with a proactive, problem-solving approach
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple transactions simultaneously
- Familiarity with Google Suite and technology-driven tools used in real estate or financial services
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with a team
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or a related (or equivalent work experience)
- Preference given to candidates with FEA/CES certification
