About the job
We're recruiting a full-time operations manager to oversee fulfillment, support and sales inquiries at our small Bushwick based distribution center.
You should be familiar with eCommerce operations and all steps necessary to successfully process and ship an order. Experience working with Shopify/BigCommerce admins, CRM and/or fraud prevention are also a plus. Bring some BI and/or Financial experience to the table and now we're cooking.
Also super important is experience with hiring, firing and onboarding positions from entry level warehouse to retail sales to CSR's. We're looking at opportunities to grow fast so no time for bad hires or missed opportunities. It is especially costly to make a bad hire in NYC.
Ideally you must be trustworthy, detail oriented, and able to eventually run an operation independently. On-time performance, follow through, and a positive attitude are highly valued. In addition, you can jump in on everything from product launches to video production. We're small so you should be the kind of person who is able to "wear many hats", while also knowing when to delegate and manage each initiative to a successful conclusion.
This job is onsite only so you should be local to NYC.
CORE REQUIREMENTS:
A minimum of 3 years experience with e-commerce operations and 1-2 years with management.
Familiarity with multiple eCommerce platforms and Marketplaces.
The basics of online sales, order processing, shipping and receiving as well as merchandising should all be second nature.
SALES / SERVICE / GROWTH:
Manage and qualify B2B inquiries and leads (no cold calling) with input on how we scale that part of the business.
Ensure we resolve customer issues quickly, completely and efficiently.
Provide additional customer support as needed.
Tracking and Reporting on growth and uncovering opportunities.
Communicating with tech support and marketing to promote efficiency, improve overall processes and drive growth.
Input on product development and product launches. Opening new international markets for products manufactured here in NYC.
ADMINISTRATION:
HR (mostly the people part. Everything else is automated)
Light bookkeeping
Facilitating communication among team members on matters related to shipping, receiving, and inventory management so we present accurate information to the customer and move product efficiently.
BONUS Skills/Experience:
MRP / Production Automation / Supply Chain (We also make Physical Goods)
Local (NYC) logistics (same day, bopis, etc.)
Successful Startup experience for physical goods. Successful means bootstrapped with profit vs burning thru funding till that funding dried up.
In all honesty, This position may be overwhelming for someone who has only worked on a single issue as a cog in a big corporate ecommerce machine. However, if you've worked at smaller businesses this is just another day with chances to move quickly to seize opportunities while addressing issues without the bureaucracy or politics. It is also a great opportunity to learn and develop your entrepreneurial stack even if that's not on the radar anytime soon.
