• Own end-to-end delivery of net-new product areas, from technical design through shipping.
• Use AI as a genuine multiplier in your own workflow, and help build AI-native experiences into the product itself (including MCP tools).

• Design, build, and test Gusto core billing platform – usage jobs, subscriptions, orders, invoice generation, payments, reporting, accounting integrations.
• Mentor other engineers to help solve some of the hardest technical problems out there in very complex domains and at a large scale.

• Architect, build, and deploy native mobile features end-to-end across iOS (SwiftUI) and Android (Jetpack Compose) using a shared GraphQL schema

At Gusto, we're on a mission to grow the small business economy. We handle the hard stuff — payroll, health insurance, 401(k)s, and HR — so owners can focus on their craft and their customers.

• Manage an initial team of 3 designers, and hire to build your team.
• Build the rituals, hiring pipeline, and planning cadence that span both Consumer Banking and Business Banking for the first time, formalizing what already exists on Wallet and building from zero for Business Banking.

• Own AV design and programming — design, testing, troubleshooting, implementation of AV technology in Gusto's offices, meeting spaces, and all hands event spaces across San Francisco, Denver, New York, Burlingame, and Scottsdale, with new sites in planning. Integrators move to install, labor, and specialist overflow rather than design lead.

• Design and execute visual and motion work across product launches, product education, brand campaigns, events, and digital channels
• Design and evolve brand systems, including motion guidelines, templates, and guardrails, that help the broader organization produce on-brand work consistently
