Retailers spend heavily to win a customer at checkout — then lose the same customer at their next device upgrade 18–24 months later. Each upgrade cycle effectively resets CAC to zero.
Techster builds infrastructure that keeps that upgrade inside the same retailer checkout.
We combine subscription mechanics, residual value modelling, and upgrade-timed routing to turn one-off device sales into predictable, multi-cycle recurring revenue. Instead of reacquiring customers through paid channels, retailers retain them economically — because upgrading at the same checkout is cheaper and easier than leaving.
We start with UK iPhone-heavy retailers, where upgrade behaviour already exists (~80% of devices are on monthly payments). The infrastructure to capture those upgrades does not.
Our model is asset-light and capital-efficient, partnering with finance providers rather than holding inventory. We are currently pre-seed and building toward 1–2 retailer pilots.
