About the Role
We are looking for talented engineering professionals for a Startup in Mumbai to design, develop, and scale reliable software products. Candidates should have strong backend development expertise and the ability to contribute to technical architecture, engineering execution, or team leadership, depending on their experience level.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications, services, and RESTful APIs. Build backend solutions using Python and frameworks such as FastAPI, Django, or Flask.
• Design, optimize, and maintain PostgreSQL databases, including schemas, queries, indexing, and migrations.
• Develop secure authentication and authorization mechanisms, access controls, and third-party integrations.
• Work with cloud platforms such as AWS for application deployment, storage, infrastructure, and scalability.
• Write clean, maintainable, testable, and well-documented code while following engineering best practices.
• Collaborate with product managers, frontend engineers, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Troubleshoot production issues and improve application performance, reliability, security, and scalability.
• Participate in system design discussions, code reviews, technical planning, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, monitoring, and deployment processes.
• Mentor engineers, guide technical decisions, and drive engineering delivery, as applicable to the role and experience level.
• For candidates with relevant leadership experience, manage engineering priorities, sprint planning, team performance, hiring, and end-to-end delivery.

Required Skills

• 4–9 years of experience in software engineering, backend development, or relevant engineering leadership roles.
• Strong proficiency in Python and backend frameworks such as FastAPI, Django, or Flask.
• Good understanding of PostgreSQL, SQL, database design, and query optimization.
• Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and integrating third-party services.
• Knowledge of AWS or equivalent cloud platforms, Docker, Git, and CI/CD pipelines
• Understanding of system design, application security, authentication, and authorization.
• Experience with debugging, automated testing, performance optimization, and production support.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and ownership skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, product-oriented environment.

Experience-Based Expectations

Backend Engineer | 4–5 Years

• Strong hands-on backend development and API implementation.
• Ownership of individual features, database operations, integrations, and bug resolution.
• Ability to deliver quality code independently and collaborate effectively with the team.

Lead Engineer | 6–8 Years

• Technical ownership of backend systems and complex engineering initiatives.
• Ability to contribute to system architecture, technical decision-making, and code reviews.
• Experience mentoring engineers, resolving technical challenges, and driving delivery.

Senior Lead / Engineering Leadership | 8–9 Years

• Strong technical foundation and experience driving engineering initiatives.
• Ability to oversee architecture implementation, delivery planning, engineering standards, and technical decision-making.
• Experience mentoring engineers and coordinating team execution; prior people-management experience is preferred for management-oriented positions.

Good to Have

• Experience building SaaS products or multi-tenant applications.
• Familiarity with event-driven architecture, asynchronous processing, or distributed systems.
• Exposure to AI/ML integrations, LLM APIs, or AI-powered applications.
• Experience with monitoring tools, production incident management, and cloud cost optimization.
• Previous experience working in a startup or product-based organization.
