Role Overview

CNTXT AI is seeking a Robotics Data Collector to support the collection of high-quality robotics and egocentric (first-person perspective) data for AI model training.

In this hands-on role, you will operate and assist with robotic systems, configure recording equipment, and collect multimodal data in laboratory and controlled real-world environments. You will follow structured data collection protocols to capture human actions, object interactions, movement, and environmental information used to train and evaluate advanced AI models.

This opportunity is ideal for candidates who enjoy practical, hands-on work, are comfortable using technical equipment, and have a strong interest in robotics and artificial intelligence. Previous robotics experience is an advantage but is not essential for candidates who demonstrate strong technical aptitude and attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities

1. Robotics and Multimodal Data Collection

• Collect high-quality robotics and egocentric data using handheld, head-mounted, and robot-mounted cameras, along with other recording devices.
• Execute predefined data collection tasks and scenarios according to established protocols.
• Record human actions, object manipulation, movement, and human-robot interactions.
• Ensure consistent, accurate, and complete data capture throughout each session.

2. Equipment Setup and Robot Operation

• Assist with the setup and operation of robotic systems, including humanoid and mobile robots.
• Configure and prepare cameras, depth sensors, IMUs, and other recording equipment.
• Perform basic equipment checks and assist with sensor calibration and alignment.
• Monitor recording systems during collection sessions and report hardware or software issues.

3. Data Quality Assurance

• Review collected data to verify completeness, clarity, accuracy, and usability.
• Identify and report missing recordings, corrupted files, sensor misalignment, and other data quality issues.
• Follow established quality standards to ensure datasets meet AI training requirements.
• Re-collect or correct data when necessary to minimize errors and rework.

4. Experiment and Environment Preparation

• Prepare workspaces, objects, and equipment before each data collection session.
• Execute structured scenarios involving object manipulation, navigation, and human-robot interaction.
• Follow detailed instructions to replicate tasks consistently across experiments.
• Maintain an organized and controlled environment throughout data collection activities.

5. Documentation and Reporting

• Maintain accurate records of data collection sessions, equipment usage, and task completion.
• Document technical issues, recording errors, and deviations from established protocols.
• Communicate progress and escalate operational issues to the relevant team members.
• Provide feedback to help improve data collection workflows and quality standards.

6. Safety and Compliance

• Follow laboratory safety procedures and robotic equipment operating guidelines.
• Handle robots, sensors, cameras, and other technical equipment responsibly.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and secure data collection environment.
• Comply with applicable data privacy, confidentiality, and information security requirements.

Required Qualifications

• 0–3+ years of experience in data collection, field operations, laboratory work, hardware support, or other hands-on technical roles.
• Comfortable working with cameras, recording devices, computers, and basic technical equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow detailed instructions and standardized procedures.
• Ability to perform repetitive tasks consistently while maintaining high data quality.
• Basic troubleshooting skills and the ability to identify and report equipment or recording issues.
• Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
• Willingness to work in laboratory or controlled real-world environments and participate in practical data collection activities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience working with robotics systems, sensors, or technical hardware.
• Familiarity with egocentric video recording or first-person data collection.
• Exposure to computer vision, machine learning, AI training datasets, or data annotation.
• Basic understanding of robotics, motion capture, sensor calibration, or multimodal data recording.
• Experience working in research laboratories, engineering environments, or experimental setups.
