About the job
Sales Manager Fintech, AI & E-commerce
About Payle
Payle is building the financial infrastructure layer for the AI agent economy. Our platform enables AI agents to transact under human-defined rules through programmable spending policies, deterministic authorization, and a verifiable transaction ledger.
We are building infrastructure that enables the next generation of AI-powered commerce, payments, and autonomous transactions. Our vision is to make it possible for AI agents to interact with digital commerce securely, reliably, and within clearly defined financial permissions.
We operate as a remote-first, async-first distributed team across four countries. We value ownership, speed, measurable results, and people who can turn opportunities into real business outcomes.
The Role
We are looking for a results-driven Sales Manager — Fintech, AI & E-commerce to drive customer acquisition and SDK adoption across e-commerce platforms, online merchants, Shopify stores, and larger digital businesses.
You will own the sales process from prospect research and outbound outreach to discovery calls, product demonstrations, commercial negotiations, and customer onboarding.
This is a hands-on sales role. You will be expected to identify high-potential prospects, reach decision-makers, communicate the value of Payle's SDK, and consistently convert qualified opportunities into onboarded customers.
We are looking for someone who understands how e-commerce businesses operate, how checkout infrastructure impacts conversion and payments, and how to sell emerging AI-powered technology to commercial decision-makers.
You should be comfortable operating independently, testing different sales strategies, managing a pipeline, and adapting your approach based on measurable results.
What You Will Own
1. Prospect Research & Lead Generation
- Identify and research e-commerce businesses, online merchants, Shopify stores, enterprise retailers, and other potential SDK customers.
- Build targeted prospect lists based on business size, transaction volume, checkout infrastructure, industry, and potential product fit.
- Identify key decision-makers, including founders, CEOs, Heads of E-commerce, Heads of Payments, CTOs, and product leaders.
- Research large e-commerce businesses and strategic accounts with significant potential for SDK adoption.
- Execute outbound prospecting through email, LinkedIn, direct outreach, and other relevant channels.
- Develop repeatable lead-generation processes that consistently produce qualified sales opportunities.
2. Sales Execution & Customer Acquisition
- Own the entire sales cycle, from the first touchpoint through discovery, product demonstration, negotiation, and customer onboarding.
- Schedule and conduct meetings with prospective customers, clearly explaining Payle's product, use cases, technical capabilities, and commercial value.
- Adapt sales pitches to different customer segments, from independent e-commerce merchants to large online retailers and technology platforms.
- Understand customer pain points related to checkout experiences, payments, conversion, AI integration, and transaction authorization.
- Handle objections, negotiate commercial terms, and close deals.
- Maintain consistent follow-up with prospects until they convert, decline, or are disqualified.
- Work directly with the founder and product team to communicate customer feedback and improve the sales process.
3. SDK Adoption & Merchant Onboarding
- Drive the adoption of Payle's SDK among qualified e-commerce merchants and technology businesses.
- Guide customers through the onboarding process and coordinate with technical team members when integration support is required.
- Ensure that signed customers progress toward successful SDK integration and activation.
- Identify onboarding bottlenecks and work with the product and engineering teams to reduce friction.
- Build relationships that support retention, expansion, referrals, and additional commercial opportunities.
4. Enterprise & Strategic Sales
- Research and approach large e-commerce businesses, high-volume Shopify merchants, and strategically important online retailers.
- Build account-specific sales strategies for prospects with significant transaction volume or long-term partnership potential.
- Develop relationships with payment teams, e-commerce executives, technology leaders, and business owners.
- Maintain a pipeline of both high-volume strategic opportunities and smaller merchants with faster onboarding cycles.
- Support the development of repeatable sales playbooks for different customer segments and acquisition channels.
5. Sales Performance & Reporting
- Maintain an accurate CRM with lead sources, outreach activity, meeting outcomes, pipeline stages, and expected conversions.
- Track prospecting activity, qualified meetings, conversion rates, closed deals, and successfully onboarded customers.
- Report on sales performance, customer acquisition channels, and pipeline health.
- Experiment with messaging, targeting, outreach sequences, and sales processes to improve conversion.
- Establish a predictable and measurable customer acquisition engine.
Monthly Performance Expectations
This role is designed for someone who can execute at a high pace and deliver measurable commercial outcomes.
Primary target: at least 50 successfully onboarded customers per month.
The target is based on customers who have completed the agreed onboarding requirements, rather than merely responding to outreach, booking a meeting, or expressing interest.
You will be expected to:
- Generate a consistent volume of qualified leads through independent prospect research and outbound sales.
- Conduct sales meetings and product demonstrations with potential customers.
- Convert prospects into actual customers and drive them through onboarding.
- Maintain a healthy pipeline across SMB e-commerce merchants and larger strategic accounts.
- Continuously improve acquisition efficiency and sales conversion rates.
The exact sales targets and qualification criteria will be agreed based on the target customer segment, onboarding complexity, and available sales resources.
What We Look For
Required Experience
- Demonstrated experience in B2B sales, business development, or account acquisition, preferably within fintech, payments, checkout technology, e-commerce, or AI-powered products.
- A proven ability to prospect independently, reach decision-makers, conduct sales calls, handle objections, and close deals.
- Strong understanding of e-commerce business models, online checkout flows, payment infrastructure, and merchant acquisition.
- Familiarity with Shopify stores, e-commerce platforms, online merchants, and the tools used to research potential customers.
- Experience selling technical products, APIs, SDKs, payment solutions, or SaaS products to business customers.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Strong research skills and the ability to identify high-potential customers without relying exclusively on inbound leads.
- Comfort working remotely, managing your own schedule, and taking full ownership of commercial outcomes.
- A data-driven approach to sales, including pipeline management, conversion tracking, and performance reporting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Existing relationships with e-commerce merchants, payment providers, Shopify agencies, checkout platforms, or fintech companies.
- Experience selling AI products, AI infrastructure, APIs, developer tools, or emerging technology.
- Experience with enterprise prospecting and selling to large online retailers.
- Familiarity with sales tools such as HubSpot, Salesforce, Apollo, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, or similar platforms.
- Experience building outbound sales processes from scratch at an early-stage startup.
- Experience coordinating technical product demonstrations and SDK integration discussions with engineering teams.
The Sales Challenge — Required to Join the Team
At Payle, we believe sales ability should be demonstrated through execution, not just described on a CV.
As part of the recruitment process, candidates will complete a practical sales assessment designed to evaluate their ability to find prospects, communicate value, and convert opportunities.
The assessment may include:
- Prospect research: Identify a targeted list of real e-commerce businesses, Shopify stores, and larger potential customers that could benefit from Payle's SDK.
- Lead qualification: Explain why each prospect is a good fit, identify relevant decision-makers, and prioritize accounts based on commercial potential.
- Outbound execution: Prepare personalized outreach messages and demonstrate how you would initiate conversations with potential customers.
- Live sales simulation: Conduct a real-time sales call role-play, present Payle's value proposition, handle objections, and work toward securing a concrete next step.
- Commercial strategy: Explain how you would build a pipeline capable of supporting the target of 50 successfully onboarded customers per month.
Candidates may also be asked to demonstrate their sales approach through a supervised live prospecting exercise.
We evaluate the quality of prospect research, communication, commercial judgment, objection handling, and ability to move a potential customer toward a buying decision.
The goal is simple: demonstrate that you can sell.
What We Offer
- Fixed salary: A competitive base salary, agreed according to experience, location, and responsibilities.
- Performance bonus: Additional variable compensation tied to measurable sales outcomes and successfully onboarded customers.
- Clear commercial ownership: Direct responsibility for building and growing Payle's customer acquisition pipeline.
- Direct founder access: Work closely with the founder to shape sales strategy, pricing feedback, positioning, and commercial priorities.
- Remote-first flexibility: Work remotely with an international team and manage your schedule around agreed collaboration hours and customer meetings.
- Growth opportunities: The opportunity to grow into a Head of Sales or broader commercial leadership role as the company scales, depending on performance and business needs.
- Early-stage impact: Help build the sales function and establish repeatable go-to-market processes from the ground up.
Working Arrangements
- Location: Remote
- Hiring region: Worldwide, subject to employment and contracting arrangements
- Preferred time zone: Central European Time (CET)
- Job type: Full-time
- Reporting to: Founder & CEO
- Compensation structure: Fixed salary plus performance-based bonus
- Performance expectations: Minimum target of 50 successfully onboarded customers per month, subject to the agreed customer qualification and onboarding criteria
