About the job
A mission worth building for, on a model you should understand before you apply. FiNC is changing how politics works in America, and we are Crowd-Starting it. Contributor roles are not paid yet; compensation is deferred. Full details in the Crowd-Starting section below.
About FiNC
We're assembling a coalition to change how politics works. Forever.
Everything is an angle now. Every call is a scam, every app is running a play on you, and when something actually goes wrong there's nobody to call. Everyone you can reach has no power. Everyone with power is unreachable.
FiNC (The Future is Now Coalition) is citizens, candidates, and communities who all landed on the same thing: the system isn't broken, it's rigged, and it's working exactly as it was built to work.
3 middlemen decide which candidates you ever hear about: big money, party gatekeepers, and media manipulation. They control the money, the access, and the visibility every candidate needs to win. So they decide who wins before anyone votes, and good people run for office and stay invisible.
Once you know it's there, you see it everywhere. Each move looks like a one-off: a sudden outrage, a single bad vote, a new crisis to react to. But they're the same 5 rigged patterns, repeating.
Spotting them is what the Digital Politics Lens is for. Most of what we want, we want together: safer neighborhoods, schools that work, a shot at getting ahead, a government that listens. Left and right is the argument you were handed. The deeper question that matters is which way your leader is facing: up toward the people who fund them, or down toward the people who elected them.
Here's why this can work when nothing else has. Every movement, third party, and reform group is pushing against the same status quo, and all of them are pushing alone. They were all trying to win. We're assembling the thing they all stand under. Citizens say what they care about, candidates say who they are, and the 2 sides connect with nobody in between.
The coalition is the product. The Digital Politics Hub at hub.futureis.org is a tool that supports it, not the thing we're selling. Both are early: the DP Hub is live and close to empty, and the coalition is small. That's not the weak part of the pitch. Growing it is the job.
Our work is the human side: outreach, PR, social, and citizen buy-in. Not tech: that mostly exists already, spread across other civic groups. What's missing is the coalition. We're not marketing a website. We're campaigning for a better way to choose leaders.
We're also built closer to a cooperative than a traditional nonprofit. Team members here are partners and co-architects, not employees.
We can't change the rules yet, so we're changing the game.
Join our coalition. Change how politics works. Forever.

IMPORTANT: This involves DELAYED COMPENSATION -- Please read carefully
To maintain our independence and avoid conflicts of interest, we are not accepting investors or financing that comes with strings attached. Instead, we are Crowd-Starting FiNC: building it together from the ground up.
We ask team members to contribute 15 to 20 hours per week during this phase, with compensation deferred until we are operational. That includes the Founder, who has not drawn a salary and will not until the team does.
This model only works if you see it as a short-term investment for a long-term return. Contributors who build this with us earn an ownership stake in FiNC.
We are an LLC today because we needed a legal home to start from. We are building toward something akin to a nonprofit cooperative, where the people who build the organization own it, and we operate not for profit in the meantime.
This model filters for people who believe in the mission deeply enough to build alongside us. It is not for everyone, and that is okay.

Job Description
FiNC is looking for a Reddit Community Manager to own our official online community.
Our subreddit is the home of the Digital Politics Network: a room where citizens work out how politics actually runs underneath the noise, without it turning into left against right. This role owns that room. You start the conversations, you answer the people who show up, and you go find more of them in the subreddits where they already are.
Reddit is where our community lives while we get our Discord ready, so whoever builds this well is the natural owner of both.
2 things to be clear about up front. This is an active seat, not a maintenance one: the room grows because you are in it talking, not because it is tidy. And you own the initiative, not a team. Nobody reports to you, and people across Outreach and Marketing work alongside you on it.
Why this role exists
We will be straight with you about the problem we are hiring to solve.
We have had a Reddit presence for months and the threads pulled real traffic. Almost none of it turned into anything, for 2 reasons: there was nowhere to send people once we had their attention, and the person doing it was working alone.
Both are fixed. The subreddit is built and waiting: description, rules, pinned posts, a launch plan, and a language guide that translates how we talk into how Reddit actually talks. Marketing produces the original posts for the feed. Others on Outreach work the comments with you.
What is missing is the person who talks to people. You are being handed the room right before the doors open.
What you'll do
Listed in priority order.
1. Own the subreddit
- Start the conversations. Post prompts, ask real questions, and answer everybody who shows up, especially early, when 1 unanswered comment makes the whole place look empty
- Set the culture. Our rules are unusual: keep your politics, aim them up at the people who set the rules, and nobody keeps score on which party is worse. Holding that line is most of the job
- Run the mechanics: AutoModerator, flair, removal reasons, and the judgment calls the rules do not cover
2. Grow it from other subreddits
- Go deep in a handful of subs instead of wide across dozens. The same faces seeing you over time is the only thing on Reddit that turns into trust
- Reply where people are already circling the problem and do not have a name for it yet
- Never spam, never brigade, never break another community's rules. We would rather grow slowly than get the account banned
3. Turn what citizens tell us into something that goes somewhere
- Collect what people say about what is broken where they live, and hand it to Marketing for the weekly roundup we publish and carry to candidates and movements
- Follow the best threads into DMs and pull those people into the community
4. Tell us what is actually working
- Report on what is growing and what is not, and bring back what Reddit taught you that our plan got wrong. We would rather be corrected than agreed with
What we're looking for
- Real Reddit fluency. You use the site, you know why 1 comment lands and the next one dies, and you can spot the difference between an organization participating and an organization advertising
- You have built or grown an online community somewhere: a subreddit, a Discord, a forum, a group. Hobby experience counts. Some of the best people for this have never had it in a job title
- You write like a person, not a brand
- You can sit in political conversations all day without picking a side. We host every position and take none, and that posture has to survive contact with an argument
- Thick skin, light touch. Somebody will call you a shill in week 1. The right answer is to agree that you work here and keep talking
- Comfortable being early. Small numbers, slow weeks, and the honesty to say so out loud instead of dressing it up
- Mission-aligned, and genuinely curious about why people believe what they believe
What this role is not
- Not a moderator seat. Rule enforcement is a small slice. A well-run room with nobody talking in it is not a community
- Not a content creation role. Marketing writes the original posts. Your job is everything that responds to a human
- Not an advocacy job. This is our highest-exposure seat for drifting off the referee posture, because you are in political threads every day with nobody looking over your shoulder
- Not growth hacking. No alt accounts, no vote rings, no karma farming. Those cost us the community permanently and they are not worth 1 good week
- Not solo. Alexandra is holding this now and will keep supporting you once you are in the seat
Why this role matters
Reddit is one of the last places online where a stranger will argue with you honestly and sometimes change their mind in public. It is also where we have reached the most people who already feel that something is rigged and have no language for it. This is the seat that turns that feeling into a community, and the community is the thing we are actually building.
