About the job
A mission worth building for, on a model you should understand before you apply. FiNC is changing how politics works in America, and we are Crowd-Starting it. Contributor roles are not paid yet; compensation is deferred. Full details in the Crowd-Starting section below.
About FiNC
We're assembling a coalition to change how politics works. Forever.
3 middlemen decide which candidates you ever hear about: big money, party gatekeepers, and media manipulation. They control the money, the access, and the visibility every candidate needs to win, so they decide who wins before anyone votes. The system isn't broken. It's rigged, and it works exactly as it was built to.
FiNC (Future is Now Coalition) is the way around it. Citizens say what they care about, candidates say who they are, and the 2 sides connect with nobody in between. Our work is the human side: outreach, PR, social, and citizen buy-in. We're not marketing a website. We're campaigning for a better way to choose leaders.
We're largely neurodiverse, direct by default, and soft on hierarchy. Team members here are partners and co-architects, not employees. Full mission and culture at futureis.org.
IMPORTANT: This involves DELAYED COMPENSATION -- Please read carefully
To maintain our independence and avoid conflicts of interest, we are not accepting investors or financing that comes with strings attached. Instead, we are Crowd-Starting FiNC: building it together from the ground up.
We ask team members to contribute 15 to 20 hours per week during this phase, with compensation deferred until we are operational. That includes the Founder, who has not drawn a salary and will not until the team does.
This model only works if you see it as a short-term investment for a long-term return. Contributors who build this with us earn an ownership stake in FiNC.
We are building toward something akin to a nonprofit cooperative, where the people who build the organization own it, and we operate not for profit in the meantime.
This model filters for people who believe in the mission deeply enough to build alongside us. It is not for everyone, and that is okay.
Culture and Employment
A New Kind of Organization for a New Kind of Democracy
- Neurodiversity and diversity-of-thought are strengths, not obstacles
- Servant leadership, dynamic team structures, and shared ownership
- Purpose over profits, value over hours, and respect for work-life balance
- We reward authenticity, passion, and commitment, not conformity
- We support individual weaknesses to enhance collective strengths
- Continuous role assessments, long-term growth opportunities, and real career sustainability
From your first 2-way interview, you will see (and feel) how radically different we are.
The Role
FiNC is looking for a Coalition Partnerships Manager to build the coalition from the partner side: the communities, movements, organizations, and candidates who bring their own people with them.
We say we're assembling a "coalition of movements." This is the seat that turns that sentence into a list of names.
You would work directly with the Founder, starting with partnerships that are already live.
The problem you would solve
Every movement, third party, and reform group is pushing against the same status quo, and every one of them is pushing alone. They split the resources, the media access, and attention, and each one builds its own table. Those tables collapse, because the system is built to collapse them.
We're assembling 1 table they can all sit at.
We know who to call. That part is not the gap. The gap is everything after the first conversation: staying with people, finding the thing worth building together, and making sure the relationship is still alive 3 weeks later. Our failure with partners has never been that people lose interest; it's that nobody hands them a specific thing to do by a specific date, so a warm conversation dies quietly and nobody notices for a month.
Who you would be talking to
3 groups, in rough priority order. All are open, and we're ready to meet anyone who fits.
- Communities and movements. Our biggest opportunity. Disability advocates, veterans, reform organizations, issue movements, regional civic groups. They have the 1 thing we need most, which is their own people. Most are under-resourced and fighting in silos, and plenty have already been burned by a partnership that went nowhere. They'll be cautious, and they're right to be
- Candidates. Independents, third-party candidates, and candidate coalitions. You would lead with the full package we build around a candidate, never with "we have a profile for you"
- Independent voices. Podcasters, creators, and independent journalists. We're a story, not a sponsor, and that's a better pitch than it sounds
The instinct that has to be real in all 3 rooms: we're not competing with any of them. They have goals in politics. We're assembling the system that lets them reach theirs.
How you would work with the Founder
Most partner meetings are the 2 of you.
The Founder carries the depth: the mission, the architecture, the answers to the hard questions. You carry the relationship and the shape of the conversation. Opening it, reading the room, knowing when to let him go deeper and when to bring it back, and getting it to a specific next step before anyone leaves.
That's a real division of labor, not a junior seat. The substance is covered. What's missing is the person who makes an hour with strangers feel easy and end somewhere, and who keeps the rhythm going between meetings so the next one isn't starting cold.
What you would do
- Own our live partnerships day to day
- Build and lead workshops with partner communities, alongside the Founder
- Bring new partners in and turn existing leads into actual relationships
- Deliver value before you ask for anything. Cross-promote their work, set up an interview, run a shared post
- Turn every offer of help into a task with a date and 1 named owner, within 7 days. That's a standing rule here, not a suggestion
- Onboard partners and walk them through what's real today
- Carry what you hear in those rooms back to the team so what we build fits actual use
What success looks like in 90 days
- The Nevada community has defined what it wants counted, in their words rather than ours
- At least 1 workshop built and delivered end to end
- 2 new partners in real conversation, each with a named contact and a dated next step
- Zero open commitments to any partner without an owner and a date attached
Who we're looking for
- 2+ years in partnerships, coalition work, community organizing, program management, or something close enough that you can show us the work
- You're good in the room. You can carry a first meeting with people you've never met, keep it warm, and still get to a decision
- You run a room without being the expert in it. Workshops, facilitation, group discussion where the partner knows their own needs far better than you do
- You listen more than you pitch. Partners can tell the difference in the first 5 minutes, and the ones we want are the most sensitive to it
- Comfortable working with things that are half-built, and comfortable saying so out loud to a partner instead of smoothing over it. We never promise a date we can't control, and we'd rather show someone the sequence. Honesty about where we are persuades better than polish, and we hold that line hard
- You follow up. Not "I'll circle back." A date, an owner, and then the thing actually happens
