About the job
Location: Remote
Hours: 20 hours per week, flexible schedule
Compensation: Equity-only, for now
Internet Sciences Inc (https://internetsciences.co/) is a forward-thinking technology startup providing cutting-edge solutions that empower businesses to harness the full potential of the internet. Our mission is to create innovative solutions for our customers and develop our own products that enables seamless data processing and management, delivering value to clients across diverse sectors. We have partnered with cutting edge service providers, and recently launched our newest service, IOTiMax.
We need an AI Engineer to help build AI into our products and our partners' systems. You'll see a wide range of domains and stacks, and your code will ship to production across multiple products. That mix means a diverse array of work: some weeks you'll add AI features to our own products; other weeks you'll build AI tools and services for partner customers—always shipping to real users, always growing and learning.
This is applied AI engineering, not research. You’ll use existing models—OpenAI, Anthropic, AWS Bedrock—and turn them into features and services people use: assistants and chat interfaces, document and data extraction, search over a customer’s own data, and automation that saves real hours. If you can write solid Python and you’ve been building with these tools, you can do this job.
Why Join Us?
● Join us for ~20 hours/week, remote and with small, dynamic teams.
● Compensation: Equity-first (no cash to start); potential for cash as milestones/revenue fund it. As we grow, we will transition our successful personnel to full-time roles.
● Trajectory: Opportunities to lead our AI roadmap, influence standards, and shape how AI shows up across every product we build.
● Work alongside US & global teams on production features and grow with a company where your code reaches users—not just demos.
● We have multiple roles with flexibility to help your career. Python plus modern AI/LLM tooling. Full-stack is a plus.
Key Responsibilities
● Build and ship AI-powered features in our products and partner applications—turning models into working software people actually use.
● Work with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, AWS Bedrock): prompt design, tool/function calling, and multi-step agent workflows.
● Build retrieval pipelines (RAG): document ingestion, chunking, embeddings, and search over customer and device data.
● Write the Python services and REST APIs that put AI in front of users—Django/DRF, background jobs, and third-party integrations.
● Test what you build: evaluation sets, accuracy and latency benchmarks, and guardrails so features behave in production.
● Collaborate with team members to define, design, and implement features.
● Adhere to best practices in software development, including version control (Git) and code quality.
● Troubleshoot and debug to optimize performance, cost, and reliability.
Required Skills & Qualifications
● Proficiency in Python and building with AI/LLM APIs, see options above.
● Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related program.
● Practical experience calling an LLM API from your own code—a project, prototype, or shipped feature all count.
● Experience or understanding of REST APIs and their implementation.
● Strong knowledge of Git for version control.
● Experience with Visual Studio Code for development.
● Knowledge of best software development practices and principles.
Highly Recommended Skills
● Experience with embeddings and vector stores (pgvector, FAISS, Pinecone, or similar).
● A knack for troubleshooting model behavior—working out why an output is wrong and how to make it right.
● Pandas/NumPy and comfort with messy, real-world data. SQL for database development.
● Experience with AWS services such as Bedrock, S3, CodeCommit, ECR, and RDS.
● Understanding of Docker, AWS/Azure, Kubernetes and design processes
How to Apply
Please include the below
● What interests you about Internet Sciences?
● Two links (repo or PR + something shipped)
● Anything you’ve built with AI—even a small prototype—and a note on what worked and what didn’t
● Time zone and weekly availability
If you are a self-driven developer with a passion for technology and an eagerness to learn and grow, we would love to hear from you!
