Senior AI Engineer -- Stealth Startup

About Us

We are a stealth-stage startup building an agentic voice AI product for professional services. We recently secured funding, have seen early product traction, and are moving quickly towards our official launch. This is a foundational hire — you will be the first dedicated engineer and will own the full technical surface of the product.

Position Overview

We are looking for a Senior AI Engineer who is excited to own the end-to-end technical stack of an early-stage AI product. This is not a narrowly scoped ML or frontend role. You will work across the full product, from voice agent behavior and LLM orchestration to the web dashboard where users can configure the agent and review results.

The ideal candidate has strong applied AI experience, is comfortable building production software in TypeScript, and thrives in environments where they wear many hats.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain the core voice AI agent and its supporting infrastructure
  
• Build and improve the web-based application (Next.js / TypeScript)
  
• Develop and iterate on LLM-powered pipelines for call orchestration, classification, and structured data extraction
  
• Develop evaluation frameworks to measure and improve agent performance, including LLM-as-judge approaches, similarity/ranking metrics, and qualitative call review
  
• Integrate with third-party APIs and platforms (voice, telephony, CRM, LLM providers)
  
• Establish engineering best practices, CI/CD, and infrastructure as the technical foundation of the company
  
• Collaborate directly with the founder on product direction, prioritization, and technical feasibility

Qualifications

Required:

• 4+ years of full-time software engineering experience
  
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript and modern web frameworks (Next.js preferred)
  
• Hands-on experience building applications powered by LLM APIs (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic)
  
• Familiarity with agentic AI frameworks or patterns (e.g., LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI, OpenAI Agents SDK, or similar)
  
• Experience designing and running evaluations for AI/ML systems, whether LLM-based (LLM-as-judge, embedding similarity, ranking metrics) or traditional ML (model evaluation, fine-tuning, metrics design)
  
• Comfort working across the stack — backend logic, API integrations, and frontend UI
  
• Strong communication skills and ability to work autonomously in a fast-moving environment

Preferred:

• Experience with voice AI, telephony, or real-time audio/speech systems
  
• Experience with fine-tuning or prompt engineering for production LLM applications
  
• Proficiency with agentic development tools (e.g. Claude Code, Codex, Cursor)
  
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Vercel)
  
• Prior experience at an early-stage startup or as a founding/early engineer
  
• Interest in legal tech, sales automation, or workflow tooling for non-technical users
