As a Java Backend Developer, you’ll be responsible for building and maintaining secure, scalable backend systems using Java and Spring Boot. You’ll work on critical fintech workflows including payments, transactions, ledgers, KYC, and other systems where reliability and performance are essential.

You’ll collaborate with architects, frontend developers, QA teams, product teams, and client-side stakeholders to build APIs, microservices, databases, and deployment workflows that perform reliably in production.

How your day would look like at SandCup

• Design, develop, and maintain REST APIs and microservices using Java and Spring Boot.
  
• Build backend services for payments, transactions, ledgers, KYC, and related financial workflows.
  
• Design and optimize SQL and NoSQL databases, queries, and caching strategies.
  
• Implement authentication, authorization, encryption, and backend security using Spring Security, OAuth2, and JWT.
  
• Work with AWS services including EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, SQS/SNS, API Gateway, and CloudWatch.
  
• Build and support CI/CD pipelines and containerized deployments using Docker and Kubernetes.
  
• Write unit and integration tests, review code, and maintain clear technical documentation.
  
• Work with frontend teams to ensure smooth API integration and reliable data flow.
  
• Participate in solution planning, technical reviews, Agile discussions, and architecture decisions.
  
• Troubleshoot production issues and support the stability of critical financial systems.
  

You’ll be a great fit if

• You have strong hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Security, and Spring Data JPA.
  
• You understand microservices architecture, OOP, design patterns, data structures, and algorithms.
  
• You can design reliable APIs for high-volume financial workflows.
  
• You have experience with MySQL or PostgreSQL, including schema design and query optimization.
  
• You understand backend security, OWASP practices, encryption, and financial data protection.
  
• You are comfortable working with AWS, CI/CD tools, Docker, Maven, Gradle, and deployment workflows.
  
• You can debug complex issues and explain technical decisions clearly.
  
• You work with ownership, maturity, and attention to detail.
  
• You can collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical teams.
  
• Experience with fintech, banking, payments, ledgers, KYC, or AML workflows will be preferred.
  
• Exposure to Kafka, NoSQL databases, monitoring tools, Kubernetes, React, or Angular will be an advantage.
