You advance automation frameworks, testing practices, and quality standards that improve reliability, scalability, and engineering efficiency. You partner closely with Engineering, Product, and other cross-functional teams throughout the software development life cycle to identify risks, improve testability, and support the delivery of high-quality software. You bring strong technical judgment, deep quality assurance expertise, and a continuous improvement mindset to how teams test, automate, and deliver products.
Our team is passionate, empathetic, hard working, and above all else focused on improving the lives of our service professionals (our Pros). Our success is their success.
What you do each day:
- Design and maintain robust automated testing solutions for API, web, and mobile applications using modern programming languages, frameworks, and testing tools
- Develop detailed, comprehensive, and well-structured test plans and test cases across integration, system, functional, regression, and exploratory testing
- Review product requirements, specifications, and technical designs to identify risks, improve testability, and provide timely and meaningful feedback
- Advance test automation frameworks, infrastructure, and Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines to improve reliability, scalability, and engineering efficiency
- Apply AI-assisted and agentic testing approaches to improve test coverage, defect triage, regression testing, maintenance, and overall testing efficiency
- Establish and promote automation and quality engineering best practices that improve test reliability, maintainability, and product quality
- Partner with cross-functional teams to clarify requirements, evaluate automation feasibility, and influence functional and technical design
- Analyze complex quality issues and contribute to root cause identification, risk assessment, and appropriate testing strategies
- Create reusable testing practices, documentation, automation assets, and workflows that improve consistency and effectiveness across the team
- Coach and support other engineers by sharing technical knowledge, testing practices, and sound judgment around quality, automation, and emerging technologies
Qualifications:
- 6+ years of experience as a QA Automation Engineer, Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET), Software Developer, or similar automation-focused role in Agile development environments
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent work experience
- Strong programming skills in one or more languages used for test automation (i.e. TypeScript, JavaScript, Java)
- Experience designing and maintaining automated testing frameworks that are reliable, maintainable, performant, and scalable
- Proficiency developing API, web, and mobile test automation using modern testing tools and frameworks (i.e. Playwright, Selenium WebDriver, Appium, RestAssured)
- Experience implementing and maintaining test automation within CI/CD environments and supporting rapid, reliable software delivery
- Solid knowledge of SQL, scripting, debugging, and software testing methodologies
- Demonstrated ability to leverage AI tools to improve workflows, streamline execution, or enhance outputs across the software testing lifecycle
- Experience applying strong technical judgment to complex testing, automation, and quality engineering challenges
What will help you succeed:
- Ability to write clear, concise, and comprehensive test plans, test cases, and technical documentation
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and investigate the root causes of complex defects
- Ability to prioritize effectively, manage multiple initiatives, and adjust quickly in a rapidly changing environment
- Ability to work cross-functionally and influence quality throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
- Sound judgment about when automation, AI-assisted workflows, or human review are most appropriate
- A continuous improvement mindset with a focus on turning effective approaches into repeatable practices for the broader team
- Passion for mentoring others, sharing knowledge, and contributing to the growth of those around you
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate technical risks, recommendations, and tradeoffs
- Exceptional breadth of interest shown through tangible, self-initiated ventures or deep community involvement; you love trying new things and may possess a demonstrated history of successfully pivoting or starting over in life and work
Compensation starts at $5,600 USD per month.
