Physical AI / Robotics Engineer

We're building an autonomous robot for the built world. We need a robotics engineer who has shipped real systems on real robots in real environments — not lab demos, not research prototypes.

WHO YOU ARE

• ROS2 is native to you — packages, nodes, Nav2, behavior trees, URDF, launch files, the full stack
• Experience integrating and calibrating sensors (RGB cameras, depth cameras, IMUs, wheel encoders; LiDAR a plus) and fusing them for reliable perception
• Proficient in C++ for real-time robot control and Python for tooling and ML integration
• You've debugged a robot in a real environment — localization failures, sensor dropouts, field edge cases
• You use AI coding tools daily and can point to robotics or perception work that shipped faster because of it
• Comfortable with simulation (Gazebo, Isaac Sim) as a first-class development tool, not an afterthought
• Experience with data pipelines or cloud platforms (GCP) for robot telemetry is a plus

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• Shipped a working ROS2 mobile robot in a production or near-production context
• Startup or small-team experience — you've built meaningful systems fast with limited resources
• Comfortable at the hardware–software boundary: board bring-up, sensor debugging, field failure modes
• You design for what the robot does in the field, not what it does in the lab
• This is a builder role, not a research role
• Charlotte, NC preferred — remote considered for the right person
