Founding Engineer (Equity-only, Part-time)

The outcome-based partnerships platform capstacker.io is in beta with its first paying customers, built on a v1 we developed in house. We're looking for someone to take over the codebase, own it going forward, and build what v2 looks like.

What you'd own

Take over and extend the platform in Python/Django, both backend services and the interfaces customers use, with a soft handover from the outgoing engineer to get you up to speed.
Make the technical calls going forward: stack, standards, and tradeoffs.
Ship into production fast and iterate directly off paying customer feedback.

Terms

Starts equity-only (1-2%), part-time
Optionally full-time for a co-founder-caliber candidate
Grows to a permanent, paid lead role as we reach profitability or raise seed

Must have

5+ years building web applications, full-stack, with product development experience in Python/Django.
You've shipped both backend services and end-user interfaces.
Comfortable starting equity-only (1-3%): retainer kicks in at seed or profitability.
Comfortable with ambiguity and direction changes: you can navigate a pivot (including a shift toward API-led growth)

Nice to have

Payments or fintech experience.
APIs you've designed or published.
Founder or early-employee experience at a startup.

We start with servicing startup deals; we evolve to building the logic layer for all milestone-based B2B payments.
