About the job
About this role
You'll be the technical voice in the room on our most important deals. Sitting across from CFOs, finance leaders, and engineering teams, you'll understand how a prospect's business actually works, then show them how Zenskar solves a problem most vendors can't crack.
You'll be the product expert on sales calls and run discovery, build demos on real customer scenarios, design the integration, and own the technical win alongside the AE.
This is a hands-on role. You'll write SQL, poke at REST APIs, map data flows, and configure Zenskar to prove it works before the deal closes. If your instinct is to open the product and build the thing rather than talk around it, you'll fit here.
What you will be doing:
Solutioning
- Understand customer billing models and configure Zenskar contracts, pricing, metering, and invoicing accurately.
- Translate complex business requirements into clear, structured Zenskar workflows and setups.
- Design solutions for complex B2B SaaS products, focused on outcomes rather than features.
Pre-Sales & Technical Discovery
- Run technical discovery with finance, RevOps, and engineering stakeholders. Understand their billing model, usage data, source systems, and rev rec requirements before anyone talks about features.
- Partner with Sales on live demos, sandbox setups, and RFP responses. Build demos tied to the prospect's real scenario, not a generic tour: set up metered plans, show usage ingestion and rated invoices, and point to where revenue is recognized.
- Design the integration. Map how usage flows from Postgres, Snowflake, or a warehouse into Zenskar, and flag idempotency, late-arriving events, and reconciliation risks before they become implementation problems.
- Own the technical win. Qualify the deal, separate champion from economic buyer, multi-thread to the CFO, and de-risk the build so nothing falls apart post-sale.
Business Case & Enablement
- Prepare business case documents and fill RFPs. Tie capability to a dollar saved or a risk removed, not a feature list.
- Create customer-specific solution documentation and clear handoff references when transitioning deals.
- Communicate clearly, simple enough for a CXO, precise enough for technical teams.
Internal Coordination
- Act as the voice of the customer internally, feeding structured patterns from discovery back to Product and Engineering.
- Raise and follow through on time-sensitive issues so momentum is never lost.
Key qualifications
- 5+ years total experience, with meaningful time in a hands-on technical role: solutions or sales engineering, forward-deployed engineering, data engineering, or backend and integrations work. Actual building, not support tickets.
- You can write real SQL comfortably (group by, window functions, date logic) and have built or debugged REST API integrations. You understand the difference between an API and a webhook without having to think about it.
- Vendor-side B2B SaaS product experience, ideally billing, payments, fintech, ERP, or data-infrastructure adjacent.
- You've been client-facing in a technical capacity: discovery, PoCs, demos, or implementation calls with real customers.
- Comfortable supporting enterprise-grade deal cycles and multi-stakeholder buying processes, with US or international customers.
- You can hold a credible conversation with a CFO and with an engineer on the same day.
- CS or engineering degree, or demonstrable equivalent shipped work.
- Experience at a small company (under 100 people, seed to Series A) is a plus, not a must.
- Willing to work US-overlap hours, roughly 6:00 PM to 2:00 AM IST to cover US afternoons, on weekdays.
- A sense of humor and the ability to not take yourself too seriously. We're building something hard, and that's more fun with people who can laugh at the chaos.
Location

Interview Process
Our interview process is designed to be structured and efficient.
- R0 – Recruiter Screening: Quick conversation to assess basic fit and role expectations.
- R1 – Introductory Call: Discussion on your background, the role, and why Zenskar. We recommend reviewing the job description & CEO’s recorded videos before this step.
- Take-Home Assignment & Discussions: Walkthrough of your assignment, focusing on your thinking, trade-offs, and approach.
- Reference Checks: We request contact details of two former direct managers. The hiring manager will connect with them to better understand your working style and alignment with Zenskar’s culture.
- Final Round: A final round-up of all the conversations. This may be virtual or in person based on availability.
The process may vary slightly depending on the role and whether we feel it would be useful for you to connect with additional members of the team.
