Independent Sales Partner - Remote - Commission Only

We help businesses run payroll, calculate payroll taxes, manage filings, and pay employees without the usual payroll complexity.

Our pricing is simple and transparent: businesses start at $15/month + $1 per employee per payroll run.

Role

We are looking for 5 remote independent sales partners who can introduce Surf to small businesses and help us bring qualified customers onto the platform.

This is a remote, commission-only independent contractor opportunity. It is not a full-time employee role.

You will earn $400+ for every qualified customer who successfully starts running payroll with Surf.

Because this is our first sales partner program, we are starting with only 5 partners so we can give each person enough product support, sales material, demo help, and onboarding support.

Location

This role is fully remote.

You can work from anywhere, as long as you can introduce Surf to qualified small businesses in Surf-supported U.S. states.

There are no fixed office hours and no required office location.

What You Will Do

Introduce Surf to qualified small businesses
Identify business owners who are looking for a simpler payroll solution
Help schedule demos or product conversations
Explain Surf’s basic value proposition and pricing
Coordinate with the Surf team during the sales and onboarding process
Stay involved until the customer runs their first payroll successfully

Ideal Candidate

Have experience selling to small businesses
Understand payroll, accounting, HR, benefits, insurance, or local business services
Already have relationships with business owners or service providers
Can build trust quickly
Are comfortable working independently in a remote setup
Want a flexible commission-based opportunity
Can communicate clearly and professionally

Payroll experience is a plus, but not required.

Commission

Commission starts at $400 per qualified customer.

Commission structure:

1 employee / owner-only payroll: $400
2 employees: $420
Each additional employee after 2: +$10 per employee

Examples:

1 employee = $400
2 employees = $420
5 employees = $450
10 employees = $500
20 employees = $600

Payout Terms

Commission is paid in two parts:

50% after the customer completes onboarding, runs their first successful paid payroll through Surf, and pays Surf.

50% after the customer remains active with Surf for 90 days.

What Counts As A Qualified Customer

A qualified customer must:

Be a real business operating in a Surf-supported state
Have at least 1 employee or owner-employee payroll
Run payroll once or twice per month
Complete onboarding with Surf
Run at least one successful paid payroll through Surf
Pay Surf for the service
Not already be an existing Surf customer or active Surf lead before your introduction

Work Style

This is a flexible remote independent contractor opportunity.

There are no fixed hours.
There is no required office location.

You are not required to work exclusively with Surf.
