About ASPL Fusion
ASPL Fusion is building India's first commercial neutron technology platform for BNCT cancer therapy and medical isotope production. Our accelerator facility in Gandhinagar requires precision-engineered target and moderator systems operating under extreme conditions.
The Role
Design and build the mechanical systems at the heart of our neutron source: the target assembly with micro-channel cooling, the Beam Shaping Assembly (BSA) moderator structure, and the biological shielding integration. These components operate under extreme conditions — high heat flux from the proton beam, radiation damage, and precision neutron moderation requirements.
What You Will Do
- Design target assembly with micro-channel cooling (managing ~5-30 kW beam power on target)
- Engineer BSA mechanical structure
- Design and specify biological shielding for the accelerator room
- Create engineering drawings (SolidWorks/CATIA) for fabrication
- Coordinate with accelerator physicists on beam-target geometry
- Support thermal-hydraulic analysis (CFD for target cooling)
- Manage fabrication and assembly of mechanical components
What You Bring
- M.Tech Mechanical Engineering (thermal-fluid systems, nuclear components, or precision engineering)
- Experience with high-heat-flux component design (target systems, heat exchangers, or similar)
- Proficiency in SolidWorks, CATIA, or equivalent CAD
- CFD/FEA simulation experience (ANSYS Fluent, COMSOL, or similar)
- Understanding of vacuum systems and ultra-clean manufacturing
- Bonus: Experience in nuclear/accelerator environments
- Bonus: Knowledge of neutron moderator materials
