About Scopex
Scopex moves money from Europe to India for NRIs, on stablecoin rails. Transfers land in about five minutes, our rates beat mid-market, and most transfers cost nothing to send. Around 50,000 people use us today, and we are opening the US corridor next.
Small team, we ship often.
The role
You lead QA. Right now that is one junior QA doing everything by hand, no automated tests, and a growing surface area: web app, mobile app, and the services behind them.
Your first year is about getting regression off humans. You choose the tools, you build the suite, you decide what gets tested manually and what stops being a manual step forever. The junior QA reports into you for day-to-day work, and part of your job is turning them into someone who writes tests, not just runs them.
You also get the authority to make that stick. You set the definition of done and you gate releases. If you say a build is not ready, it does not ship.
What you will do
- Own the test strategy across web, mobile, and APIs. Decide what "tested" means here and write it down.
- Build the automated suite from nothing. Pick the stack you know works, wire it into CI so it runs on every PR.
- Test money movement properly: KYC and onboarding, payin, payout, settlement, reconciliation, and every failure and retry path in between. Most of our worst bugs live in the paths where something goes wrong halfway.
- Keep manual and exploratory testing sharp for the flows that need a human eye, and cut the ones that do not.
- Run bug triage. Set severity rules, keep the queue honest, chase the ones that matter.
- Mentor the junior QA. Review their test cases, pair with them, hand off automation work as they are ready for it.
- Tell us where our process is slow and then fix it. This is the part we actually want. We would rather hire someone who redesigns how we release than someone who works neatly inside a system nobody has questioned.
First 90 days
Learn the product and the money flows end to end. Ship the first automated regression run against staging on every PR. Give us a written view of where quality is weakest and what you plan to do about it.
What we are looking for
- 4+ years testing web and mobile products.
- You have worked in-house on a product you shipped and then supported over time, not project-based QA at a services company. You know what it is like to own a bug you wrote a test for two years ago.
- You have written and maintained automated tests that other people relied on. Playwright, Cypress, Appium, Maestro, whatever you have used well. We are not attached to any of it.
- Comfortable with APIs. You can read a log, reproduce from a stack trace, and check what the backend actually returned instead of what the screen showed.
- You have set up tests in CI and kept them from going flaky.
- You have held a release before and made the argument for why.
- You write clearly. We are distributed and most decisions happen in writing.
Nice to have
- Fintech, payments, or another regulated product.
- Curiosity about blockchain and stablecoins. You do not need to know Stellar or Polygon on day one, you will learn them here.
- Mobile release process, app store review, device fragmentation.
- Basics of performance and security testing.
Hiring process
- A 30-minute intro call.
- A 45-minute live session on our staging app. Find bugs, talk us through how you would test it, sketch how you would automate it. No take-home.
- A final conversation with the team.
Scopex is an equal opportunity employer. We are committed to building an inclusive team.
