DocuGuardian™ is a high-potential startup aiming to revolutionize end-of-life planning and document management through a secure, innovative digital platform. We believe in providing a user-friendly, secure way for individuals to organize and share their most important documents, memories, and legacy information. As we prepare for our upcoming launch, we are seeking an experienced and visionary Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to lead all technology efforts at DocuGuardian and help us bring to market our robust, scalable platform that will redefine digital document management.
Role Overview:
This is a unique opportunity for a forward-thinking CTO to join DocuGuardian in a pivotal role with significant equity compensation and the potential to lead our technology strategy from the ground up. As CTO, you will have overall responsibility for our technology roadmap, platform security, and development processes. You will oversee our development team, set the technical direction, and ensure the scalability and security of our platform. This role is ideal for someone with hands-on technical experience in Java, Spring Boot, React, JavaScript, AWS, AI, and OCR, coupled with strong leadership skills.
Responsibilities:
- Technical Leadership: Lead the technology strategy and oversee the development and deployment of DocuGuardian’s platform, ensuring security, scalability, and ease of use.
- Security & Compliance: Take ownership of platform security, acting as the primary contact for our Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP) and overseeing SOC compliance and other security protocols.
- Development Oversight: Manage a team of full-stack developers and junior developers, providing strategic guidance and technical mentorship. Ensure that all development follows best practices, with a focus on agile methodologies and Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD).
- Platform Architecture: Guide the architecture of our platform using Java (Spring Boot) for the backend and React for the frontend, deploying on AWS. Set standards for code quality, scalability, and maintainability.
- Technology Stack Management: Ensure our infrastructure is optimized, overseeing server configuration, cloud storage management, and database integrity. Ensure appropriate tools and technologies, including code repositories, data encryption, and testing protocols are as expected.
- Innovation & Strategy: Stay abreast of the latest tech developments, especially in AI and OCR, and leverage these technologies to enhance DocuGuardian’s platform and maintain a competitive edge.
- Documentation & Process Development: Ensure documentation is maintained, version control is consistent, and that internal processes support effective technology management.
- Desktop Support & IT Oversight: Provide or coordinate desktop support for team members, maintaining efficient IT operations.
What We’re Looking For:
- Proven Expertise: 6+ years of experience in technology leadership, ideally with startups or high-growth environments. Deep expertise in Java, Spring Boot, React, JavaScript, AWS, and cloud-based architecture.
- Development Knowledge: Familiarity with AI and OCR technology, and proficiency in full-stack development best practices.
- Strategic Vision: Ability to craft and execute a technology roadmap that aligns with DocuGuardian’s mission and growth trajectory.
- Security Focus: A background in security best practices, data encryption, and secure architecture.
- Leadership Skills: Experienced in managing, mentoring, and scaling development teams. A collaborative leader able to effectively communicate complex technical concepts at all levels of the organization.
- Flexibility & Drive: Comfortable with the challenges of a startup environment, motivated to build something impactful, and adaptable to evolving priorities.
