About the job
IN A NUTSHELL
If you’re a storyteller who’s ready to dig deeper, connect insights to creativity, and take ownership of the narrative from start to finish, this is for you. Bring us your sharp insights of human behaviour, compelling voice, and ability to share the stories that resonate. In return, we’ll give you the creative freedom to shape a growing brand and a world-class team to develop it with over time. Sound good? Keep reading.
At Bellroy, we’re relentless about design and gearing people up to move through the world. We’re a proud B-Corp and using our platform to drive positive impact for people, animals, and the planet has always been core to what we do. Our reach is growing globally and we have great stories to tell. We’re searching for an insight-led Senior Storyteller to help bring these stories to life in a way that captivates and inspires our audiences.
We have a full-service in-house creative team, we do it all right here. With designers, copywriters, photographers, videographers, pens and post-it notes, experiments, sweat and big ideas coming together under the same roof. We need you to bring your creative vision to every part of the journey, from shaping the initial idea to seeing it reach audiences across brand comms, product campaigns, videos, social media, digital advertising, and more.
IF YOU WERE HERE LAST MONTH, YOU MIGHT HAVE...
- Crafted the overarching narrative for an upcoming campaign and how we'll communicate it across our channels
- Called a creative team brainstorm to workshop ideas for a new education-based series on our YouTube and socials
- Worked with our in-house Videographer to shoot and edit the aforementioned series – capturing insights from our designers and production teams that give our audience something worth learning
- Written out a bunch of ad headlines and video scripts that test different messages and customer motivations
- Reviewed and approved incoming copy from our Product Copywriter, and given helpful feedback where needed
- Recorded an interview with a Bellroy ambassador, diving deeper than most to craft a surprising introduction for our audience – as a long-form article or video
- Given some creative direction on the upcoming month’s social or email plan, and shared ideas with our Community Engagement team on how to keep the conversations going
- Created the strategy for an in-depth buying guide, and worked with our E-Commerce team to get it live on bellroy.com in the format that’s most valuable
- Reached out to various internal subject matter experts for the crunchy info on our recycled materials and responsible business activity, to write our next Good Business Update.
YOU COULD BE THE ONE IF YOU HAVE…
- 7+ years of creative experience under your belt and know how to tailor stories for a brand, an audience and its channels (agency experience preferred)
- Have management experience and successfully worked in creative teams alongside copywriters, art directors, videographers, photographers and designers
- A keen interest in product design, gear or fashion and the design thinking embedded in them
- Your finger on the pulse of what’s culturally relevant and topical across the world right now, and how Bellroy’s brand should engage with those moments through various storytelling methods, written to spoken, long-form to short
- Have worked in advertising, TV or video production. Or maybe also created content for your own YouTube channel.
- The ability to think critically with a knack for creative problem-solving. You love a big picture brainstorm but can home in on the details just as deftly.
- A love of language, you’re a geek who knows the rules. And exactly how to break ‘em.
- Confidence to pitch your ideas to a room, unpacking them with equal parts charisma and competence
- An interest in human psychology and draw on these models whenever you craft an idea; always looking to understand and therefore better engage your audience
