About Griddy

Griddy is building a new generation of fantasy sports! We're blending fantasy football with collectible card and battle royale game mechanics to create a mobile experience unlike anything that exists in sports.

Sports fans and gamers are some of the most passionate consumers in the world. Our mission is to use proven concepts from video games to build a fantasy football experience these users absolutely love - and our team has the deep industry experience to make it happen! Griddy has a founding team, investors, and advisors who have built some of the biggest fantasy sports products in the industry.

Griddy went live in beta as a daily puzzle game on iOS in early November, peaking at #6 in Sports in the App Store its first weekend of lauch. We have organically amassed over 10,000 users and are working hard to add new features and game modes, with our ultimate goal to transform the beta into a comprehensive fantasy royale platform ahead of the 2025 NFL season.

About The Role

We are making our first engineering hire! We’re looking for a full-stack developer to join the team as a Founding CTO. The CTO will have ownership over the company’s engineering function, with the role’s primary responsibility being designing and building the core technology that powers our game.

This role will generally be expected to work in-person in Santa Monica, CA, with hybrid flexibility as needed. This is a founding position in a startup – as such, compensation will include a significant equity stake in the business.

Passionate about gaming and/or fantasy sports! You don't need to be a big football fan, but you should love games! We want applicants who are thrilled about the idea of shaping the future of a beloved industry, and are ready to obsess over turning this vision into a reality

If you love to code and love to build, this is your role! All our focus is channeled towards creating a great game that our users look forward to playing everyday. With that, you will play a crucial part in shaping the product roadmap and user experience. You will be expected to operate with a high degree of ownership and initiative with an emphasis on quickly shipping new features.

Qualifications

• 5+ years as a software engineer with experience in both frontend and backend mobile development, experience building games or consumer apps is preferred.
• Proficient in JavaScript, TypeScript, and Python with experience building in Node.js and React Native.
• Ability to develop and maintain backend services, APIs, and integrations. Familiarity with modern cloud architectures and platforms such as AWS.
  
• Knowledgeable about and willing to own all areas of the software lifecycle: design, development, test, deploy, operate, and support.
• Strong product and design intuition. Thinks critically about how engineering decisions will impact the user experience.
