🔑 Responsibilities
In short, we need someone to help us create and edit mock technical interviews with hosts and guests. We film 2-3 per week.
The role involves sourcing subject matter experts, scheduling sessions, managing a publishing schedule, and helping us to make our video production pipelines more efficient.
Video production management
Manage the entire process of producing and publishing mock interviews and scripted videos on YouTube.
- End-to-end management: This includes recording, editing, creating thumbnails, crafting engaging titles, and managing the production process by moving videos through our project management tracker, Notion, and communicating with stakeholders.
- Project Management: Coordinate with video hosts and guests to collect essential information such as code submissions, payment details, and headshots.
- Alignment: Align our video publishing schedule with our larger marketing and curriculum priorities. This involves planning and tracking the release of new content, such as machine-learning lessons and related mock videos as we publish new blog posts or lessons on these same topics.
- Info Sharing: Discuss upcoming video content in content sprint meetings, ensuring all projects are on track. Proactively identify bottlenecks that are preventing us from meeting goals or deadlines.
- Production Database: Maintain up-to-date records of upcoming and existing videos in our Notion databases.
Marketing channel management: YouTube
- KPI tracking: Be responsible for reporting on the key performance indicators (KPIs) that measure the success of the video content on YouTube.
- This includes measuring against historical performance and general expectations for our channel, as well as reporting on trends and opportunity areas. e.g. What happened and what could we do next?
- Provide regular reports on YouTube performance. Analyze successful content, identify trends, and make recommendations for future strategies based on what you know performs well or what’s trending in the marketplace. e.g. Shorter intros on mock interviews drive higher video retention.
- Comment Moderation: Moderate YouTube comments and mentions, ensuring a safe and professional environment by removing and reporting inappropriate comments and facilitating responses to new comments.
- This involves checking the “Held for Review” column on YouTube Comments and approving relevant, constructive comments. Work with our team to reply to technical requirements.
📊 KPIs
Your primary responsibilities will be maintaining an efficient video production pipeline and ensuring the success of YouTube content. You will monitor and report on metrics such as these on a quarterly basis.
- Production rate / output: How many videos did we produce this quarter? Is that below or above expectations and how could we improve this process?
- Production budget + ROI: How much did we spend on video? What is our measurable outcome from that effort / investment?
- YouTube performance: Overall, you will own our channel’s “health.”
- Video Views: This is a rough measure of a video's popularity, determined by the total number of views. Factors that influence view counts include the overall popularity of the role and the effectiveness of the video's thumbnail and title.
- Engagement: This is calculated based on the total number of minutes watched. Elements that can affect engagement include viewer boredom, video length, and the effectiveness of content delivery by hosts.
- Click-through Rate (CTR): This is a rough measure of how effective the thumbnail and title were. With substantial historical data across multiple roles on our Exponent channel, we can set a standard CTR for mock and scripted videos. You'll monitor the performance of videos and make recommendations for improvements in future content.

- Marketing:
- Role: Marketing determines the content and products that Exponent should produce or expand upon. This includes identifying the most popular careers, companies, and jobs.
