The Director of MSL Clinical Science is a MSL Team Leader for at least 15 MSL Clinical Science positions in the US supporting all of our Strategic Business Accounts. As a functional leader, the Director of MSL Clinical Science manages 2-3 Associate Directors to ensure the field-based team provides proactive MSL engagements through "white glove" physician support, clinical education, and ongoing relationships with key physicians regarding the scientific evidence for Tempus clinical test platforms. The Director defines, implements, tracks, and presents specific team goals, objectives, and performance measures in alignment with annual and quarterly commercial plans. Additionally, the Director is required to collaborate with Commercial Leaders to ensure the team’s activities are aligned strategically and tactically with business operational plans.
Accordingly, the Director oversees the following MSL team initiatives:
- MD educational and testing support - "White glove" high touch support to test results; proactive connecting on clinical results in key accounts
- Virtual Tumor Boards and case reviews, including measures to optimize engagements from accounts
- Clinical Presentations & Speaker Program support
- MSL provision of CAE support, including MSL Office Hours
- MSL support to Sales Pitches to physician groups
- MSL-led national and regional Sales Training initiatives
- Product Launch supports
Location
- US Field-Based Location
- Travel requirements – up to 50% travel within the US to include major oncology conference attendance, strategic account presentations, KOL and key physician customer meetings, speaker programs, and internal team meetings
Qualifications
- Education: Advanced degree in medical, clinical, or science-related field (MD, PharmD, PhD, MS in Biological Science or Clinical Discipline) is required
- Professional Experience: Minimum of 3 years in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry with 1 year of MSL team management experience as a requirement; Professional experience within clinical or academic cancer centers systems is preferred to include working understanding of health care provider roles and clinical system infrastructure; Proven ability to engage with physicians on a peer-to-peer level and develop strong collaborative relationships
- Business acumen: Capable of developing a strategic team business plan; Goal setting in alignment with commercial objectives; Operational skills in tracking team performance; and Strategic business problem-solving capabilities within and across functional teams
- Leadership and Management skills: Effective team leadership and communication skills; Strong project management skills; Strong working knowledge of organizational dynamics; Coaching, mentorship, and career development acumen, including capabilities in providing supportive and corrective feedback to team members
- Presentation skills: Ability to present business plans and quarterly updates; Capable of abstracting and summarizing key medical insights for presentations and action plans
- Research acumen: Capable of interpreting and communicating elements of research projects to support research discussions with physician investigators and assist internal presentations and routing of research concepts
- Personal work habits: Ability to work in a team environment and establish productive work relationships; Highly organized with thorough attention to detail and timely follow-up and closure; Ability to delegate; Ability to identify and address issues proactively in a timely manner; Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks; Ability to thrive in a complex, fast-paced, and changing environment
