ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Receives all inbound calls, incoming emergency, and non-emergency calls, and accurately collects proper information based on the call.
Determines the nature of the call request, dispatches calls to the adequate crews in an appropriate and timely manner, and records pertinent information.
Provides information to customers regarding insurance coverage for medical transportation, medical necessity for ambulance transportation, and costs associated with non-covered transportation.
- Maintains constant communication with customers and facilities to relay any information regarding transportation requests.
Processes credit card payments.
Train new EMS dispatchers.
Dispatches and maintains radio communications with all units.
Monitors and documents response times of units.
Utilizes and maintains professional communications skills with all employees and customers including patients, facilities, and public service agencies.
Assists in the collection of patient data for billing purposes collects and verifies patient insurance information.
Monitors waiting and active calls.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be able to answer multi-line emergency and non-emergency calls while dispatching.
- Must understand exactly what services Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurances cover, or demonstrate the ability to learn this information.
- Must have a minimum of 1 year experience in Private EMS Dispatching.
- Great attendance and punctuality are a must.
- CAD and data entry experience with typing speed of at least 35 wpm required.
- Current certificate holder of CPR for Healthcare Provider
- Must have general knowledge of Houston highways and surrounding cities.
- Effective oral/written communications skills and interpersonal skills.
- Must be available to work day shifts, night shifts, and weekend shifts
