Taste the Local Difference (TLD) builds consumer demand for local food and helps farm and food entrepreneurs build successful, well-connected, and thoughtful businesses.
TLD’s Director of Sales is responsible for leading a team that sells custom, hands-on marketing services and education to a niche audience of local food businesses. Their role is integral to the mission and sustainability of TLD. The ideal candidate has strong sales experience and comfort with sales of services to busy entrepreneurs.
Responsibilities Include:
- Individual Sales & Revenue Generation (55%)
- Meet or exceed your annual sales goal
- Provide quality customer service & relationship development throughout a multi-state territory
- Respond to inbound inquiries while prioritizing strong, effective outgoing strategies as well; including, but not limited to: phone calls, email, in-person visits and social media.
Lead by example, for sales team under your management
Lead Strategy & Accountability for Sales Team (25%)
Refine TLD’s sales strategy through customer feedback and industry knowledge
Uphold accountability measures that engage team members and lead to strong performance, including active use of CRM
Collaborate with Brand & Media Manager to incorporate your specific sales strategy and services promotion into broader outreach and communications plan
Lead weekly meetings and reporting
Actively Participate in Leadership Team Decision Making and Strategy (10%)
Track relevant sales KPIs and lead go-to-market strategic initiatives
Contribute to internal meetings with leadership staff by providing regular updates on sales performance and strategy
Collaborate with CEO on relevant budget line items and projections
Community Outreach, Networking and Brand Awareness (10%)
Table, Network and Present at Conferences, as needed
Research and propose opportunities for Brand Awareness events & activities
Proactively connect with industry leaders who can become strong referral partners
Desired Skills:
- Extensive sales experience, preferably in marketing
- Strength in building and maintaining authentic relationships
- Comfort with cold calls and occasional travel
- Management or leadership experience
- Experience or interest in local food systems
- Quick learner with ability to ask questions
- Collaborative in nature, with ability to work and communicate across departments
- Self directed and comfortable with remote based work
- Strong time management and organizational skills

Base Salary Range: $42,000-$46,000
Annual Commission Target: $30,000+
Total On Target Earnings: (OTE): $72,000-76,000
Commission compensation is tiered and uncapped.
Location: Fully remote, with ability to travel
