About the Senior Manager, Capacity Planning (Marketplace) at Headspace:

*Headspace’s mission is to create a world where mental health is never an obstacle. We provide on-demand access to behavioral health coaching, video therapy, video psychiatry and self-guided content that’s proven to improve symptoms of depression and anxiety. *

We are a fast-paced environment, learning and evolving quickly, so we can provide the best support possible to our members. This role requires you to be adaptable, flexible, and friendly to a growth mindset. Our culture is extremely supportive, passionate and committed. We’re willing to go above and beyond to reach our goals, to step in and help each other out across all teams, and to give and receive feedback graciously.

The *Senior Manager, Capacity** Planning (Marketplace) will work cross-functionally with Finance, Product, Commercial, Marketing, Operations, and Services to drive forecasting accuracy for Headspace Marketplace, ensuring member access to timely care (therapy, psychiatry, behavioral health coaching) and achievement of financial goals. Reporting to the Vice President, Marketplace, the Senior Manager will own supply-demand modeling, marketplace hiring targets (by state, shifts, health plan, etc.), reporting, and KPI definition, in addition to driving forecasting improvement initiatives and automation opportunities with our data science team. The Senior Manager will also be responsible for driving supply-demand related investigations across stakeholders when variances are observed. The ideal candidate will be highly analytical, experienced in forecasting and workforce planning best practices, with an ability to lead and influence senior cross-functional partners.*

What you will do:

  • Lead cross-functional stakeholder group across Product, Data Science, Commercial, Clinical, Finance, Talent, and Operations to understand how changes to the business impact supply and demand forecasting, updating assumptions accordingly
  • Lead annual marketplace capacity planning efforts to define roadmap, hiring targets, and financial goals, with quarterly re-forecasts
  • Identify opportunities to evolve model structure and sophistication, working closely with the data science team to automate and improve model integrity
  • Closely collaborate with clinical teams to understand and validate utilization assumptions, baking them into forecasting and shift-scheduling models
  • Closely collaborate with Talent and provider acquisition team to drive accountability over hiring targets (by state, sub-specialty, demographic, health plan, etc.) and resulting supply
  • Define and monitor capacity related KPIs, collaborating with Marketplace operational teams on escalation pathways to resolve access issues
  • Support leadership in setting roadmap, KPIs and business health metrics associated with marketplace forecasting and capacity
  • Collaborate on network scale strategy, including supply monitoring and escalation, cross-licensure initiatives, PSYPACT opportunities, and analyses driving expansion decisions
  • Perform ad-hoc analyses as it relates to supply and coverage (RFP domain owner, leadership deep dives, etc.)

What you will bring:

Required Skills:

  • 5+ years of experience, with demonstrated expertise across building, maintaining and evolving forecasting models; ideal experience within workforce planning, supply/demand planning, and/or marketplace capacity management
  • Familiarity in applying statistical and judgmental (aka managerial) forecasting techniques and skilled in selecting appropriate methodology given business context and data availability
  • Highly analytical skillset and comfort driving data informed decisions
  • Ability to influence and effectively communicate with senior leadership
  • Strong judgment, accountability and decision-making skill set

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity developing and interpreting time series forecasting models (e.g., Exponential Smoothing, ARIMA, LSTM, etc.)
  • Proficient in the use of coding languages (Python, R, etc.) for statistical modeling and data manipulation at scale
  • Demonstrated track record at a high-growth, start-up
  • Experience with provider (therapy, psychiatry) licensing strategies (cross-licensure) and capacity management
  • Experience collaborating with clinicians as key stakeholders
  • People management experience and ability to motivate and drive operational teams

Privacy Statement

*All member records are protected according to our Privacy Policy. Further, while employees of Headspace (formerly Ginger) cannot access Headspace products/services, they will be offered benefits according to the company's benefit plan. To ensure we are adhering to best practice and ethical guidelines in the field of mental health, we take care to avoid dual relationships. A dual relationship occurs when a mental health care provider has a second, significantly different relationship with their client in addition to the traditional client-therapist relationship—including, for example, a managerial relationship. *

*As such, Headspace requests that individuals who have received coaching or clinical services at Headspace wait until their care with Headspace is complete before applying for a position. If someone with a Headspace account is hired for a position, please note their account will be deactivated and they will not be able to use Headspace services for the duration of their employment. *

Further, if Headspace cannot find a role that fails to resolve an ethical issue associated with a dual relationship, Headspace may need to take steps to ensure ethical obligations are being adhered to, including a delayed start date or a potential leave of absence. Such steps would be taken to protect both the former member, as well as any relevant individuals from their care team, from impairment, risk of exploitation, or harm.
