Job summary

This role gives you the opportunity to use your sales skills to make an impact on the future of local journalism. As an Ads Strategist, strategize, execute and analyze sponsorship sprints and tactics for Indiegraf’s network of independent community publishers. This role could be adjusted for either entry or mid-level candidates, and it is the ideal role for someone motivated by a mission-driven, fast-growing team.

Key information

We are looking to hire a contractor to help us complete various sponsorship projects for our clients from now until the end of June. You will get to bill an hourly rate.

Key responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the ads team to drive revenue for community news outlets through sponsorship sales across channels that include newsletters, website, and content;
  • Complete market research and identify local and regional sponsorship, major gift, and grant leads;
  • Develop sales asset and proposal strategies, including media kits, value proposition, key messaging and pricing strategies;
  • Develop webpages to support ad sales, including lead magnets, calls to action, pricing tables, etc;
  • Assist with onboarding new publishers to our sponsorship products and offer recommendations;
  • Collect feedback from publishers on the work we do so we can continuously work to improve our offerings;
  • Lead client communications to ensure sponsorship needs are being addressed in a timely fashion.

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Strong English communication skills, including professional writing and copy editing;
  • Technical competency with our marketing stack which includes WordPress, the Google suite of tools, Google Analytics, AdButler, ActiveCampaign, and Mailchimp
  • Professional stakeholder and client communication and relationship management skills;
  • Quantitative reasoning: ability to read and interpret basic analytics and manage spreadsheets;
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines;
  • Capable of working in ambiguity and problem-solving through roadblocks;
  • Graphic design skills are an asset but not required; and
  • Experience with Google Ad Manager and other digital ad-serving platforms is an asset but not required.

Education and experience:

  • 3-5 years in a sales role;
  • Post-secondary education (degree or certificate) in a related field such as communications, marketing or liberal arts;
  • Experience in fundraising, marketing is an asset; and
  • Experience working with news media or interest in the community news field is a strong asset.
