DAZN’s Network and Cloud based architecture unifies a range of technologies to deliver a seamless user experience and support a global user base and company infrastructure. DAZN is seeking a Cloud Network Engineer to join our diverse and expanding Global Network Support team. As a cloud network engineer, you will lead on support and delivery for network related incidents, problems, changes, and service requests, in relation to both our public and hybrid cloud environments. You will be responsible for supporting and maintaining the highest levels of service availability within our cloud network environments. In addition, you will technically lead the implementation of new services, ensuring exceptional design / build documentation is produced and that knowledge is transferred into the wider Network Operations team. You will form part of our team who provide outstanding support to our business and customers, ensuring the network is closely managed to avoid incidents from occurring, implementing new service provisions, leading on business-as-usual network changes and ensuring any unavoidable incidents are resolved promptly. Due to our live sports schedule, you need to be flexible in terms of working hours, including nights, weekends, national and public holidays. You will also form part of our senior network engineering on-call rota, ensuring technical escalations from our 24/7 NOC are handled quickly and efficiently to support the business needs.
AS OUR NEW CLOUD NETWORK ENGINEER, YOU’LL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO:
- Support the design and implementation of cloud networking architectures, considering scalability, performance, security, and cost optimisation.
- Develop and maintain documentation, including network diagrams, configuration guides, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for our cloud network infrastructure.
- Participate in capacity planning activities to ensure the cloud network infrastructure can accommodate future growth and increasing workload demands.
- Lead on the resolution of escalated incidents/problems relating to our public/hybrid cloud network environments, ensuring business service level targets are achieved and managing senior stakeholders within the business.
- Own the successful fulfilment of complex network service requests and changes within our cloud network environments, within the agreed timelines.
- Develop, maintain, and manage the DAZN hybrid/public cloud network monitoring capability, ensuring it consistently meets the demands of the business.
- Support the development of operational business processes and successful delivery of service improvement opportunities.
- Act as the point of technical authority for the NOC / Network Support team members for our cloud networking environments, providing senior Technical / Operational assistance and guidance.
- Develop key relationships with a multitude of senior stakeholders across the business.
- Be involved in directly supporting the successful delivery of major sporting events to our global customer base.
YOU’LL BE SET UP FOR SUCCESS IF YOU HAVE:
- In-depth understanding of networking principles, protocols, and technologies, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, VLANs, and routing protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF).
- Strong demonstrable experience in supporting, maintaining, and developing complex cloud networking environments on a large global scale, especially within AWS
- Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as a Code toolsets, especially Terraform.
- Experience with running production systems on AWS.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex network issues in a distributed cloud environment.
- Familiarity with software-defined networking (SDN) and network virtualisation technologies
- Ability to develop design principles, models, plans, internal standards, and processes based on industry best practices.
- Expertise applying network security best practices in the cloud.
- Previous experience in technically leading on the successful delivery of significant network evolution / implementation projects.
- Flexibility to support a 24x7 global operation, including providing ‘out of hours’ on-call assistance.
- Strong working knowledge of ITIL Incident, Problem, and Change Management components.
- The ability to quickly assess, prioritise, respond, resolve incidents.
- Excellent communication skills and proven senior stakeholder management.
- Demonstrated strategic and tactical thinking, quantitative and analytical skills, while under pressure.
- The ability to promptly learn new network technologies and shape the delivery of these into an operational team.
EVEN BETTER IF YOU HAVE:
- Over 5 years’ experience in working within a complex Network Support environment at a senior engineering level.
- Over 3 years’ demonstrable experience within a Cloud Network Engineering role.
- Relevant certifications, such as CCNA, CCNP, AWS Certified Advanced Networking, or equivalent.
- Experience with distributed applications and microservices.
- Network management experience with more than one cloud provider (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Demonstrable broadcast experience and understanding of broadcast systems/technologies.
- Experience with cloud native technologies, containerization and Kubernetes.
