Mainvest is an investment marketplace that connects talented small business entrepreneurs looking for startup and growth capital with local investors in their community. We’re looking for a passionate, results-driven Business Development Representative to help us identify small businesses across the country to raise capital from local investors on our platform. Looking for a new sales role where you can take meetings from cafes and breweries instead of behind a screen? This might be the place for you.

Here’s what you can expect to work on as a BDR:
70% Research, prospecting, and outreach: you’re in the drivers seat, learning about different cities and industries as you build local relationships with small business owners.

This may look like:

  • joining and interacting with online communities (brewers associations, networking groups)
  • going to networking events and trade conferences
  • engaging with the existing Mainvest community
  • prospecting via social media, news articles, or new business filing information

*15% Larger-scale projects: *work cross-functionally with our marketing team on creative business acquisition campaigns.

15% Partnerships: build relationships with relevant community stakeholders like small business networking groups, SBDCs, and Chambers of Commerce.

Who we’re looking for:
Mainvest lives at the intersection of finance, technology, hospitality, and small business, meaning that you can expect to pick up a lot of knowledge here. From investment structure to the cost of beer ingredients, we need to be trusted sources of knowledge for our clients. Therefore, an ideal candidate will have experience in at least one of the following three areas (bonus points for overlap):

  • 2+ years experience in a sales role
  • 2+ years experience in hospitality, small business, or entrepreneurship
  • 2+ years in finance

  • Salary range: $55,000-65,000, plus commission
  • Equity commensurate with experience
