Role overview
As head of engineering you will be responsible for setting and driving the company's technical vision and leading all aspects of the company's technological development. You should be hands on in execution of the technology vision. We are looking for someone who can drive the technology and can seamlessly transition into a Head of Engineering role as they grow the team around them.
Additional role details
You will be required to work in a collaborative manner with a data science team focussed on machine learning (natural language processing) to build an NLP based SaaS platform. You are required to lead all aspects of technology other than NLP/data science, i.e., to lead Engineering (Front End + Back End) + Data + QA + DevOps + Infrastructure/Security. Implementation and administration of the platform. Implement sustainable solutions. Architecting new platform solutions to support high growth, scale and availability. Manage all aspects of production deployment, monitoring and maintenance. Understand SaaS product requirements and advise on timelines including hiring requirements. Should be able to develop and grow a team.
Qualifications
Passion for technology, ability to thrive in a start-up environment, proactive and hands-on in development and execution.
Ability to handle ambiguity and pivot as the product matures.
Strong communication skills. Should be able to explain highly technical concepts to non technical audiences such as product managers, business managers, and legal professionals.
Obsessed with craftsmanship. Build a world class scalable and robust ML powered legal analytics platform.
Previous experience in managing an engineering team or leading a startup.
Responsibilities
Lead teams of engineers and data scientists to deliver on product milestones.
Write technical specs to provide an engineering roadmap.
Run sprint meetings to ensure project delivery aka project management.
Resolve technical disputes in an amicable manner. Keep the team motivated and involved in collective decision making.
Participate in recruiting and growing the team. You will be interviewing potential candidates and selling them the company’s vision.
