Longplay is looking for a world-class Sr. Marketing Manager to join our team and lead email marketing strategy for our clients: direct-to-consumer e-commerce brands from $1M to $100M+.
The opportunity
The mission of the Sr. Marketing Manager, is to lead our team of email marketing managers/strategists, in our goal to continuously innovate on our strategy and methodology around email marketing, and to ensure our work always delivers top-of-line results and excellence in experience for our clients.
You’ll be responsible for improving and systemizing our approach to flow and campaign strategy, targeting, lifecycle marketing, our AB testing within the team. You’ll be responsible for working closely with the Creative Director to continuously improve the strategic direction & quality of our creative work to optimize for conversions. You’ll be responsible for leading and growing the Email & SMS Strategy team, setting performance KPIs for team members, and developing and executing strategies aligned and that support the continued growth of our clients’ brands and companies.
You’ll be responsible for leading your team in developing, executing, and managing email & sms strategy to achieve our clients’ KPIs and business goals. You’ll work closely with our operations team to ensure strategies are aligned with the clients’ expectations, timelines, and that projects remain on budget. As the operations team is your partner in running client calls it will also be your mutual responsibility to ensure that all clients truly feel compassionately understood, cared for as if we are an extension of their internal team.
You must have a proven track record of leading digital marketing campaigns for e-commerce companies with sales of at least $10M.

- 3-5 years of experience in a role where you’re turning quantitative and qualitative data into insights, which become tests, campaigns, or landing pages through analysis, creativity, and collaboration with other specialists.
- 2-4 years of experience working in email marketing for ecommerce with thorough knowledge of the day-to-day process of email strategy and execution
- 3-5 years of experience working in e-commerce, in a manager level position in a $10M+ e-commerce company or an agency working with $10M - $100M e-commerce companies.
- 3-5+ years of experience leading a team of 5-8+
- 1+ years of experience leading a team remotely
- 2-3+ years of experience managing your own clients/accounts and interacting/facilitating calls and client management on a regular/daily basis. (Any industry)
- Respected and decisive personality with demonstrated ability to lead and support team members with obstacles and efficiently resolve conflicts.
- The ability to recognize phenomenal copy and design.
- Mastery & hands-on experience with Klaviyo, Shopify, and e-commerce analytics tools
- Experience setting department-level goals and KPIs.
- You have a methodical and systematic approach of developing testing and executing new strategic ideas
- Experience working in-house or at an agency with a minimum $10M+ e-commerce business (an ideal client type for Longplay) in a lead marketing role
Responsibilities:
- Strategize directly with clients to define and prioritize their KPIs and business goals
- Develop and oversee the execution of a broad email marketing strategy for each client aligned with their KPIs and business goals
- Define, plan, and prioritize project KPIs to execute on a broad email marketing strategy and testing roadmap based on our clients’ business goals
- Monitor email performance across all clients and oversee team in achieving clients’ KPIs and business goals
- Define and oversee the achievement of internal goals for our email strategy team to continually improve Longplay’s standards of strategy and execution
- Work closely with our operations team to manage the team’s workflow, workload and monitor deadlines and budgets.
- Develop and executing creative new A/B tests to drive email revenue based on analyzing qualitative and quantitative research
- Review briefs, strategies, and other work created by our email strategy team to ensure it drives top-of-line results for clients and is aligned with client goals
- Maintain a database of test ideas, insights, and results to inform our own process and keep clients in the loop.
- Research inspiration and insights from other brands and industries.
- Determine key areas of strategic growth & improvement for Longplay’s email marketing strategy and capabilities to improve service
- Lead our team of Email Marketing Managers and demonstrate an ability to provide mentorship, training, and growth opportunities for current and future team members
- Create standards and processes for all the parts of our email strategy and optimization methodology.
- Translate complex data and test results into actionable insights to present to clients.
- Manage full P&L ownership, hiring, and growth decisions for your team
Some competencies you’ll need to have:
Digital Marketing Fundamentals: A solid understanding of all the major facets of digital marketing: Facebook & Google Ads, digital analytics, landing pages, A/B testing and e-commerce websites
Email Marketing Mastery: You understand everything there is to know about the core pillars of strategic email marketing - flows, campaigns, segmentation, deliverability, creative & A/B testing. You also have a mastery of Klaviyo and have experience using the platform directly.
Critical Thinking: You are able to synthesize and execute on 80/20 strategies in your role. You think holistically and understand how your actions impact other areas of the organization.
Project Management: Large and complex projects are kept organized, within scope, and on-time. You are able to proactively resolve project risks and expertly handle objections.
Reporting & Analytics: You are able to analyze and manipulate large sets of data to create easy-to-understand reports. You have strong Excel skills and are able to simplify data.. You have advanced knowledge of Google Analytics.
Creative: You have a solid understanding of the fundamentals of strong UI/UX design and conversion-optimized copy and design. You have the ability to identify phenomenal creative and clearly communicate strategic improvements.
Communication: You are able to communicate complex data in a simple manner and craft a story around it to lead to business insights. You have strong presentation skills and are comfortable speaking in front of small audiences.
Coaching: You actively coach your direct reports to think more critically, be more resourceful, and continuously learn. Your leadership and support encourages maximum performance and happiness. You ask more questions than you give answers while directing your team from a position of confident expertise.
