Culture and benefits at Wholesail

Culture overview

Our team is different—we know many teams say that, but ours really is. We have six co-founders who have different strengths and approaches to their work and worked together long before Wholesail was even an idea (at OpenTable and, prior to that, at two startups that were acquired by OpenTable). We started with a shared professional passion for crafting high-quality software products and a love of the food and beverage industry. Over more than a decade of working together, our founding team has maintained its commitment to the set of values upon which our company was founded. One of those values is to focus on the customer—we believe that the only way for us to succeed is to build value for users. We do that by understanding them, empathizing with them, and helping them improve their businesses. This ethos drives why and how we work together. To put our customers first in everything we do, we believe the solution must come last. Instead of coming at a problem with an idea of how to solve it, we arrive with questions, look for data, and let the solution emerge. We’re a hybrid team with product development centered in the Bay Area, where many of us come into the office on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Our office is a collaborative and welcoming environment rich with conversations about Wholesail, as well as other topics, spanning the gamut from regenerative agriculture to radio-controlled model helicopters. Our Go-To-Market team is remote, based in the cities where our biggest markets are. When possible, we visit customers to shadow them and learn how they work. We review deals and troubleshoot together every week. We come together as a company regularly in our San Francisco office and around the country to meet with our fellow Wholesailers and our customers in person. We recently held a product development on-site in San Francisco that included customer visits, dinners at customers’ restaurants, a hike, and a sunset cruise and tour of Alcatraz.
