Tophatter was founded by Stanford computer science graduates Ashvin Kumar (CEO) and Chris Estreich (CTO), and launched in January 2012. The company is a pioneer in the mobile discovery shopping category, emerging this year on path to an IPO as the "anti-Amazon".

Shoppers compete in fleeting, 90-second auctions to win deals of up to 80% off jewelry, electronics, beauty and fashion. With more than 12 million users around the world, the company is on track to grow over 100% in 2017, selling $1M of product a day.

Tophatter has raised $35 million to date from leading Silicon Valley venture capital firms, including Goodwater Capital, August Capital and CRV. The company is based in San Francisco and Shanghai, China.
