Plastics are the most inexpensive, lightweight, durable, printable, sealable, and scalable material on earth — but they’re also made from petroleum, a finite resource that is environmentally damaging. 160 million tonnes of plastic wrappers, baggies, and pouches are distributed across the globe every year — making up nearly half of all plastic production! These plastics are designed to be thrown away, and they are extremely difficult to recycle. As litter, they remain in nature for centuries, causing harm to both humans and wildlife. Our seaweed-based packaging material replenishes the social and ecological systems harmed by petroleum plastics. Our material is fully biodegradable and home-compostable. It is derived from a regenerative resource, cultivated to empower local communities and restore coastal ecosystems, and can be composted in your backyard after use.
