Compostable, seaweed-based packaging to replace single-use plastics
Sway's product meets the rising awareness regarding plastic pollution. Increasing governmental bans on single-use plastics are forcing major brands and manufacturers to actively seek replacements. The problem is, very few truly compostable options exist.

Our market research includes continued conversations with the heads of packaging and sustainability at major brands and manufacturers to ensure that our product development aligns specifically with their needs. 100% of the brands we’ve been in communication with have expressed specific interest in our plans, largely because:

1. Demand for truly compostable plastic alternatives is rising thanks to ambitious commitments to reduce plastic packaging.

2. Very few alternatives currently exist that match the performance of traditional plastics while remaining bio-based and nontoxic. Corn, starch, sugarcane, and other plastic alternatives typically require industrial compost facilities to degrade, otherwise taking decades to decompose naturally in the environment.

3. Seaweed is an underutilized, regenerative, carbon-sequestering material with enormous potential. Brands are excited by the opportunity to adopt a new material that inherently exceeds their sustainability goals.

We aren't just providing a material alternative — we are striving to usher in the regenerative economy, which will actively replenish the social and natural systems climate change has so severely degraded. We are a materials lab, and design studio, making regeneration possible — now.
