The trend of individual hobbists turning their hobby into a profession has greatly accelerated due to the introduction of Etsy, Shopify and other tools that help creators sell. However, the raw materials infrastructure has not kept up. It’s just as hard to purchase the right stone today as it was ten or twenty years ago. Much of the industry is still working with written purchase orders and monthly trade shows. For creators, until now, there just hasn’t been an alternative. And for suppliers, there simply hasn’t been a need to change. With the onset of COVID, we’ve seen a huge explosion in sales with creators finding out about us through word of mouth. But more importantly, we’ve also been able to make huge inroads working with suppliers throughout the industry. Without trade shows, a large portion of their revenue has evaporated and they simply have not been able to find a replacement (until now). In addition, COVID has also given many creators a look into how an online platform can replicate their traditional buying experience. As we continue to improve, we'll become the default choice for creators with sourcing needs.
