Ledger Investing is a startup that is transforming the way that insurance risks are financed. Today, Ledger is an online marketplace for connecting insurance risk to capital, focusing on securitization. Risk originators such as insurers and brokers get capital more efficiently than from traditional sources. Capital providers such as pension plans and other institutional investors get access to an asset class that is highly diversifying to traditional asset classes. Insurance securitization is already a $100 billion market but is limited in scope as a consequence of the opacity and complexity of the asset class. Ledger is working to expand the market to $1 trillion by building a seamless data pipeline from the policyholder to the capital markets, bringing transparency, objective analytics and real time portfolio insights to the table. As the company grows, we will be a marketplace for virtually all types of insurance risks and capital, including traditional reinsurers, institutional investors, and accredited investors.
